I was talking to a friend, and he was going over the "leak," and was talking to me about the Pathfinder's Quarters.  He says, he would love it to be social, where other players, not just NPCs, can interact with each other, trade/sell items, queue up for a match together, and believes it would be a good overall experience.

I say, no.  I don't want single player linked with multiplayer.  What do you think?

I say no, I get the feeling that it would turn into some form of dating hub.

Don't link SP and MP.

I've made my peace with the fact that MP is probably going to be shoehorned into most of the games I'm interested in, but I still don't want it touching the reason I'm actually buying something.   ME3 pissed me off pretty strongly the first time through when even after doing all the quests and resolving nearly everything ideally, my EMS was still well below maximum.  And why?  Because of the multi-player component.

They've since changed that interference, but for a while there it was a dangerous precedent.  If the MP crowd had vocally loved the crossover between SP and MP, then future games might have had a lot more interdependence between modes, leaving SP-only gamers with a much diminished experience.

You what? I don't even understand what you want.

What you say is that your room on the ship during single player should be a huge open world MMO place where you can suddenly interact with every other player?

Ehmmm okay. I really hope this will not happen.

The crew can hangout in my room if I was present. They cannot sit on the bed, though. Only my paramour could sit there. And if we have a fish tank in our new cabin, they also cannot touch that.

Yeah this. I'm picturing the tiny cabin Shepard had crowded with 50 players. lol

That would be a good idea for the MP part of the game but it should be only under MP and totally separate from single player.

I agree with you I'd rather singleplayer and multiplayer be treated as separate entities like they were with DAI mixing it together like they did with ME3 just screws everything up in my opinion then those that want to try to achieve the perfect score in single player or whatever can do so without the need for MP. I agree MP should be there for those that want and enjoy that but as a separate mode/game. For me single player and multiplayer should always be treated almost like 2 separate games

Agreed which is exactly why I wouldn't want it to happen as I am a primarily single player mode user. MP has never interested me mostly because I'd never be able to compete with the majority of people due to my disability. I wouldn't asy I'm a cpomplete disaster when it comes to games but my disability makes it hard to compete with anything much above easy/normal AI type difficulties. Even Bioware's games i don't play above casual

No, I don't want MP being linked to SP that way. If the rumours are true, MP and SP will be linked on some level but I definitely don't want to see other players anywhere near my single player game.

Why the players quarters? That's just a strange place to have a hub to begin with.

I'm all for it. My 'SP and MP plz don't be linked' opinion is more 'never require me to do MP to get the max SP experience, and have the SP experience robust'. AKA not the scenario of ME3's ending choice requirements..

If there's a whole layer of content settings that is so much more MP oriented, cool. Just have that part have minimal/no story and still have the SP feel maximal, not restricted by the MP existence.

I don't have the best confidence about this but I will say that DAI was better about this, having only MP characters in Skyhold chillin (I think).

If they do anything like this it'll be a totally optional thing.

In Xenoblade Chronicles X its an entirely SP game.. unless you want to meet other players, hear 'shouts' in chat boxes. They can appear as NPCs. You don't have to even connect online, but its an augmented game experience if you wish to do so.

In this thread example they could very well appear as if they are non-PC-character NPCs and you appear as that to them, so you're still the star of the show.

It could be an interesting thing to link SP and MP through a hub like this. In general though, I'd be fine with SP and MP being connected provided that the latter is completely optional, (i.e. all of the former can be done without touching the latter). The way ME3 is now is fine - you can get all the endings by playing just single player, or if you prefer, you can skip some single player stuff and make up for it by playing MP. The way ME3 was at release was not acceptable, in that MP was obligatory to get everything in SP.

I would, for example, be perfectly happy if I could earn money in MP that I could spend in SP, just as long as I could still earn enough money in SP to buy everything if I wanted to follow that path. I'd quite like to be able to unlock weapons, armour and customisation options in multiplayer. Provided, again, that there are ways to unlock them in single player.
