Is support for DA multiplayer officially dead? I can't find an article or twitter post or twitch stream or anything saying they are no longer offering support for the game. Of course, I haven't seen any signs they are still supporting it either since the last event ended over a week ago. If it is dead, chalk that up to another lie told by Bioware. Will support it 'far longer' than ME3 my posterior!

I really hope the loot system is better their next go around (I'm assuming MP will be back in DA4). One of my friends just got this game during the countdown sale. He's been playing it for three weeks compared to me who's had it since day one and put in a solid 5 months into the MP. He already has a better staff, better 1-handed weapon and shield, and better 2-handed weapon than me. He's getting purple items like candy from chests and I haven't seen a purple from a chest in nine chests now. That's just wrong!!

Support is over, yes.

But as a veteran player, you shouldn't be complaining about the loot since there was the monthly victory chest that gives guarenteed hakkon and lv27s. Whereas the new players will rely on RNG completely, and as we all know, RNG is never fair.

Here's that official announcement you were looking for:

Obituaries

On December 11, 2015, BioWare announces the death of support, after a long battle with UHD*. Support went peacefully in Edmonton, Alberta, at 9:01 a.m., surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Services will be held at various locations around the world, check local listings. The family asks that any gifts or donations be made in Support's name in the form of microtransactions to Electronic Arts.

"Free DLC and microtransactions are a part of that"

As long as the store stays open and you can buy platnium then it is, by their standards, "supported"
From reading that is where I got that

5 months and no good gear?

You've either been doing it wrong or trolling :)

Spoiler

Haven't seen a purple in 9 chests.......     I am trying not to be cruel but I am reluctantly smiling here :)

@Beerfish  Nothing I post will come close to your expertise in dead-pan.  Well played as usual.  Can you maybe wait a day or two until after I post from now on?

He said "since day 1", so maybe he played 5 months and stopped for the last 7 months.   Whatever he got was before any of the DLCs and

I stopped playing a week or two after NM was first released and started back up when I nabbed the GOTY on the X1's countdown sale to get all the dlc I didn't have. So, I missed out on the victory chest that guaranteed a Hakkon weapon. Also, I didn't say I had no good gear. I have all the dragon weapons except the dagger and staff (actually the reason I stopped playing was frustration at not getting those despite a couple hundred perilous dragon kills). I have a couple of the best accessories (although some of those are outclassed now I hear and the superb life-drain ring I only got when I started playing again recently).

It honestly baffles me how Bioware went from a truly inspired RNG loot system in ME3 to the craptacular loot system in this game. In ME there was always a point to getting chests because even if you got nothing but crap you were slowly removing said crap from the loot table bringing you closer to the gear you wanted. You were basically guaranteed to get the gear you wanted if you played long enough or spent enough money on it. In this game, however, you could spend a million dollars of real money or play 10 hours a day all week and if your luck was bad enough walk away with jack squat worth keeping. That's just terrible game design.

The promotions are real though... Just pretend RNG is working as intended. Take the comfort in that if you have a couple thousand promotions you will be god-like even with inquisition weapons  :P

I heard some console promo scrub is getting close to 1000 willpower :D

Funny story...... I just pulled my first dragon dagger from a chest. I finally have a dagger with heal on kill to go along with my guard on hit savage thorn. ......... Now if only I could pull a Hakkon or Dragon staff I would never complain about RNG again. Sooooo tired of using Deathward for my primary staff.

Play on perilous and above on ferelden castle. Loot below that level is pretty mediocre from my experience. Even on nightmare dragon, you aren't guaranteed anything but your odds of scoring higher level gear is better.

I mostly run perilous. My friends and I only drop down to threatening when one of us needs a couple of levels with a character before we can contribute in perilous with that character. We haven't been able to run NM much yet. On perilous we can all get away with playing whatever characters we want and succeed. On NM we all have to play our best characters to not die horribly.
