Lighting is one of most important things when it comes to visual aspects. It can improve looks of game greatly but also make it look weird at times.

For graphics I don't worry one bit....but lighting....well let's just say ME especially is well known for some terrible lighting in here. I mean one moment you have this:

rpWEgGj.jpg

And in another second you have this:

It is like ME games hate face lighting in here which make your character and every other look hideous more then one occasion. Speaking of character what we can say for both 'Dragon Age' and 'Mass Effect' is that our characters never look as they looked in CC. Again because of completely different lighting. I mean just take yourself back at all times when you were spending lots of time trying to make perfect character and thinking you got it then once you start game and see face in game.....you return to main menu and start new game just to remake face completely again only to repeat process once you start game once more. Which is all fault of lighting in here.

So my suggestion is this.

How about adding couple of different lighting filters in CC so we switch them so we can see how our character looks in different shade of lightings. Also would be cook to add different kind of facial expressions so we avoid "Surprise toad face" once we start game in here. I mean something simple like this:

While I'll never be one to turn down graphical improvements (especially in CC), I believe you mean to say "lighting."  Not "lightning."

I thought this was going to be a thread about weather effects.

Spoiler

Hate to be guy that gets away from topic to give side comment but that dude looks like Angeal Hewley if he had puppy-husky eyes. Kinda like Zack/Angeal's love child and lol that sounded weird.

Now back to topic I like suggestion.......other thing that kinda jumps off topic but not too much I would love of BW to keep face codes. That is something that shouldn't be removed.

I thought I was going to be about a certain Final Fantasy game....

But I do agree. Better CC lighting would be great.

BTW, what game is that CC from in the OP?

Bah, it wouldn't be me without making some amazing mistake in here!

Seems I played too much of 'Final Fantasy' lately so I got Lightning stuck in my head(who can blame for that one eh lol). Anyway fixed my itty-bitty mistake.

Yes, Lightning.

Stop making my little mistake into best idea ever  :D

You are not the only one. Considering there was a Mass Effect 3 armor DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2, it's not that far fetched either...

It is MMO game 'Moonlight Blade' that is still in development(currently there is only Chinese version, so it will take long time before NA/EU version).

Considering FF7-Remake is now big deal...we might end up getting Sephiroth's armor for science purpose xD

i would agree that character lighting wasn't always a strength of the old ME games but given that ME:A will be using Frostbite 3, I think we should probably look at DA:I's character lighting and speculate from there.

While I also hope for improvements, I think it's tough to get lighting always perfect. It's a game engine and facial shadows are probably among the most difficult to get simulated properly, they are one of the main reasons that push characters that look almost photo realistic in screenshots into the uncanny valley when they are moving. Still, it would be nice to see improvements in that area.

Still CC lighting has always been most troublesome.

Lot of people(me included) spend hours in there trying to get perfect character in our books only to get completely different face once we hit start button. So as I suggested different lighting filters would be nice so we know upfront what face we can expect in different lighting once we are in game. Instead of using completely different lighting in CC then in game which causes all the "WTF" happened to our character once we are in game.

BioWare needs to just chill out with the effects in the background and just give us a white space with soft neutral lighting. Fallout 4's CC is nice in that I don't really worry about the color, because the CC is taking place in a bright vanity light in a bathroom mirror.

Are you talking about the presets? I usually just pay attention to the facial structure when I pick them.

Nope talking about Inquisitor/Shepard too making DERP faces during game...this thread alone explains what I'm talking about: http://forum.bioware...hots-go-to-die/

And also Shepard explains alone himself lol

Tbh most of the derpfaces in that thread are there because the screenshots have been taken at the wrong moment (happens to me all the time), which isn't BW's fault.

Shep's rape face is terrible though.

Lol missed point. While thread is people mostly taking pictures at bad times it also shows many derp faces that happen in game without you even trying to hard to get some pic for lolz...like this:

jnkTwMU.jpg

Among many others popular DERP faces you will encounter in game. In fact one of best examples of DERP expressions that happen all time in game without you bothering to look for them much:

I think my Inquisitor is quite pretty, but she pulls so many derp faces.

e5YsMlj.jpg

So yeah let's chill on DERP faces and sorry I'm not taking you seriously one bit about not finding Shepard's rape face disturbing as hell in here

To be perfectly honest, I'm grateful that this exists. BSN just wouldn't be as funny without it. Yeah, that can die in the void now, but still, I'm happy so far XD

Quoted so that her image is everywhere.

OP I come back to DA:I. Where my Qunari and human looked awesome. Till I got out of CC at which point they looked goofy, like; were your parents cousins? Goofy.

My dwarf and elf protags were largely what id asked for. So clearly its hit and miss atm lets hope its been ironed out.
