Bah, it wouldn't be me without making some amazing mistake in here!

Seems I played too much of 'Final Fantasy' lately so I got Lightning stuck in my head(who can blame for that one eh lol). Anyway fixed my itty-bitty mistake.

Stop making my little mistake into best idea ever  :D

yeah been playing this a lot lately myself the first one though rather than Lightning Returns although i do have all 3 as for the CC in Boiware's games hopefully it does get a bit more attention this time around given there are definitely areas that need work in it and not just the lighting so hopefully it will be for MEA

Lighting is one of most important things when it comes to visual aspects. It can improve looks of game greatly but also make it look weird at times.

For graphics I don't worry one bit....but lighting....well let's just say ME especially is well known for some terrible lighting in here. I mean one moment you have this:

rpWEgGj.jpg

And in another second you have this:

1376552-1373219_5686565656_super.jpg

It is like ME games hate face lighting in here which make your character and every other look hideous more then one occasion. Speaking of character what we can say for both 'Dragon Age' and 'Mass Effect' is that our characters never look as they looked in CC. Again because of completely different lighting. I mean just take yourself back at all times when you were spending lots of time trying to make perfect character and thinking you got it then once you start game and see face in game.....you return to main menu and start new game just to remake face completely again only to repeat process once you start game once more. Which is all fault of lighting in here.

So my suggestion is this.

How about adding couple of different lighting filters in CC so we switch them so we can see how our character looks in different shade of lightings. Also would be cook to add different kind of facial expressions so we avoid "Surprise toad face" once we start game in here. I mean something simple like this:

Spoiler

Wouldn't it be better to be able to 'place' your character in an in-game location during the CC so you can actually take stock of the in-game lighting? Lighting filters might still maintain the same problem. Goddess in CC, Devil in-game.

On a side note, what's the top screenshot from? I've never seen it before and it certainly doesn't look like it's from an ME game.

Just copy ffxiv's character creator and give you multiple lighting/environment options to see how it will look in game.(at the bottom right)

Agreed, that's a lovely character creator. I'd also like the ability to rotate to all angles, scroll much much further out, see some facial animations and save the design so if you're a little bit out you don't have to start from scratch again recreating it.

Lol missed point. While thread is people mostly taking pictures at bad times it also shows many derp faces that happen in game without you even trying to hard to get some pic for lolz...like this:

Among many others popular DERP faces you will encounter in game. In fact one of best examples of DERP expressions that happen all time in game without you bothering to look for them much:

So yeah let's chill on DERP faces and sorry I'm not taking you seriously one bit about not finding Shepard's rape face disturbing as hell in here

Sigh.

That cross-eyed glitch happens once or twice in the whole game. The other pics you showed don't prove your point since they're exactly what I meant, screenshots taken at the wrong time. I hardly call that "a whole game filled with derp faces lol".

Also, I hope that last sentence was an attempt at a joke, otherwise I fear for your reading skills.

??? I don't get you one bit and what are you even trying to say? I just know you kinda can't take jokes and take everything as bombing serious. I said DA:I has lot of DERP face moments and you act as if I....Insulted game??? Seems you are one who can't read or at least take jokes. Nvm, anyway no pointing in arguing over failed joke because someone took my harmless joke as harmful bomb, dropping topic forever and moving on lol

Only pic not from ME in OP's post so far from what I saw is the last one tagged under spoiler(that guy on pic). First lady and Miranda are both from ME.

Still CC lighting has always been most troublesome.

Lot of people(me included) spend hours in there trying to get perfect character in our books only to get completely different face once we hit start button. So as I suggested different lighting filters would be nice so we know upfront what face we can expect in different lighting once we are in game. Instead of using completely different lighting in CC then in game which causes all the "WTF" happened to our character once we are in game.

IMHO BioWare hasn't had good lighting any of CC menus for any Mass Effect or Dragon Age game.

That's why Andromeda should have a magic-mirror thing that allows us to tweak our character. Sure it makes absoulte no sense, but it's to much a useful tool to let logic get in its way. I hope the Andromeda team agree.

Pretty sure we (the forum goers) have mentioned how awful Bioware does at putting proper lighting in the CC for the last 6 or 7 games.   They clearly don't listen on this point.   In fact, after seeing the CC that you are supposed to make your custom Hawke in DA:I, I can only assume that they are doing it on purpose now.

I keep my expectations here set at "completely dark room".    Therefore I shall always be pleasantly surprised by what lighting they actually do give us.

Xenoblade Chronicles X does that as well, you can change the background and see your characters appearance in different lighting.

Pretty sure that's not even a humble opinion, but just a fact.

I remember reading how they were so proud about the lighting in the DAI CC, too.  All the shifting colors and lights were supposed to provide a full range of environmental effects.  It didn't.  And creating Hawke again in basically pitch black...well, that was interesting and led to quite a different result that my DA2 character.  I guess Varric was just exaggerating Hawke's good looks as well.

Well.. ME3 does have it really bad sometimes...

1g0pNNVl.jpg

while in another dark corner...

Spoiler

in ME2, it was more intensity than light source placements...

Spoiler
Kinda like someone QC their games while playing skip. But I'm probably sure its my pc and I've played with the dynamic lighting and dynamic shadows a couple of times before. But in its more apparent if you're playing a character with darker skintone.

At least they didn't have this weird 70s romantic halo thing going on like in SWTOR. Your skin is shining like being kissed by the gods...

I'd love it if we could tweak our faces after using the cc. A few Bethesda games I've played give you the option to use the cc again before you leave the starter level. DA2 and (eventually) DAI had the Mirror that we could use after the starter level to tweak our faces.

Allowing us to preview our character in different lighting would be good. I know the dark green glow wasn't entirely helpful in DAI. Sometimes my characters came out wearing clown make up!

A good way to solve this problem would be to start the game in your room with the default character. You know, your quarters on the ship. If you standing in front of the mirror lets you change appearance. Opening your weapon locker will let you chose a class, and leaving the room will finalize everything. Untill that point you can walk around and check everything.

Yes, Lightning.

If they add in-game lighting as filters so you can see what face will look under that lighting then there instead of some none-existent ones that are nowhere to be seen in game, then there shall be no issues regarding it.

As for side note thing if you are talking about 1st pic, then that one is taken from ME3 in my own game, my own character. I myself took that screenshot so I guarantee you that one is indeed from ME game.

I love how all of them are incredibly beautiful but also kickass at same time.

You welcome and yeah all TW ladies are awesome. Ciri is my favorite of the bunch and I just got Witcher 2 for free so I can't wait to try that out when I am done with Fallout 4.

Anyway, back to the topic. I also wanted to add that I really noticed the lighting issue in DA:I since the CC is in the fade where it is pretty darky lit compared to most of the game. I did find it easier to manage making my characters the 2nd and 3rd time around though.

This is pretty much what I've said in one of my older posts in here.

Problem is that usually in CC we get none-existent lighting that is nowhere to be seen in game. Which causes your character to look completely different in game compared to CC, because lighting in CC doesn't exist within game anywhere.

And as I also said lighting can change appearance of your character in most drastic way. Like example I gave on my main post page:

Spoiler

Which is reason why I'm suggesting different lighting filters in CC of lighting that exists within game that is.

As for DA:I, I had most trouble with Hawke while you are at it. I mean Hawke's CC is completely dark you can barely see the face.

I can blame you. The FF 13 series are the worst FF games so far. Lightning was a terrible character surrounded by worse characters, the story sucked, the game play was atrocious. And the trend to these terrible games is what's going to wreck the FF 7 remake. FF 12 was the last good FF.

And yes this is nerd rage!!

I want my turn based combat back for final fantasy instead of poorly done action combat.
