This thought just popped into my head, but how would people feel about having the option to create their own avatar(s) for Andromeda multiplayer, rather than having to select from pre-set characters.

So by this I mean being able to choose your preferred race/gender, class and initial powers (with others becoming unlock-able through exp or micro-transaction for the impatient - that way EA can still capitalise on it but we have a means to work for it as an alternative). Maybe certain races come with a basic bonus such as Biotic Damage for Asari, Tech Damage for Salarians etc. to maintain some element of tactical choice when building a character.

For the appearance, maybe have a standard few options available from the start in terms of skin tones, patterning, face/helmet presets, then others that we can choose to unlock as and when, rather than having to wait for random chance of unlocking additional extras that we got in ME3.

Don't know about anyone else, but I found the whole pack system an infuriating process when I kept getting rank ups for characters I didn't even like/use.

I could dig it. It would be a little like having a second protagonist.

I could dig it, especially if the different races had different bonuses associated with them. I would also like to see armor selection be something more inline with SP, in that you pick several armor pieces to make up the complete set, with each on offering a different benefit/drawback.

Though I would have to say that I hope that this proposed character creation system does NOT include so much minute detail that the rest of the MP features will suffer for it. What I mean is, I would much rather have no facial customization feature, save for a few presets, if it meant that we could see non-humanoid aliens as playable choices.

It would be lovely, but I suspect unlikely because of the resources involved.

It's probably for the best. As it is, I spend over an hour on average in character creator. MP will likely have dozens of characters to play with. I'd eventually be running into people in the street and trying to adjust their eyebrows to get them "just right."

A decent RPG should not have a TPS arena as an additional option, by principle, especially if it'd be that much focused and with microtransactions involved. It'd seem like the game is valued only because of its combat system and not for the... role play... part...

Forget what I said. Good work EAware, pilder on!

Yeah, I think altering facial structure would have to be replaced with either a choice of pre-set faces, or the humans would just have to wear helmets again. It would probably work best as it would be lost since 1) Close-ups would be non-existant, & 2) We're psychologically predisposed to not really notice differences between people outside of our own human races/ethnicities as well as our own, let alone an alien species.

I don't think it'd really be much more demanding than the ME3 customisation, but allow for more detail that the current gen can handle. I'm not suggesting an in-game narrative for them either, people can do that themselves if they want :)

I would love it! Creating Characters is one of my favorite things to do in video games!
