This is the first xbox game I've ever played, fished out of trash bin after my girlfriend tossed it
Long story, I guess she pissed off alot of you, I'm not her, our views are quite different

Anyhow, how do perks work?

I took get more herbs for my first one, any suggestions?

I noticed the three war room people take different amounts of time to do things

I'm going to try cassandra as a romance, even though Mia thinks she's manly, lol
Not quite dure what influence does or what perks are best

Well you will want Deft hands, Fine tools, need that to pick certain locks. The Knowledge ones give extra dialog options somethimes and, can give more judgement choices.

Yes, read the WT missions carefully, the fastes one is not always the best outcome, chose carefully.

Influence gets power points to spend unlocking zones and special missions, like when you unlocked haven or went to val royeau.

Influence is earned by performing War Table operations and completing quests. Perks are earned by acquiring a certain amount of influence.

You should pick up a Knowledge Perk and the Perk that lets you carry more healing potions as soon as possible. Don't worry about the Perks that unlock bigger Focus abilities until later in the game. Deft Hands is also important as Amaranth said.

i agree with the above posters. You can either do story missions, some side quests or do war table item missions to gain exp for your influence meter. Also doing epic things like finding all checkpoints on every map as well as killing dragons give a spit tone of influence exp.

As far as perks i do reccomend what the above people mentioned and by getting deft hands for thieves and added potions. I also would get kills give extra exp, added chat trees (especially the mage one), all focus boosters, the one that exposes all secret item locations (unlocked when you take a fort) and a good chunk of Josephines perks to help with costs, selling, and what items you can buy at stores.

Get dialogue perks first. You can get more options (i.e. recruiting agents).

I've got 26 power so far, I really appreciate the help, I was up all night playing this, I took a sick day today, im getting really into, this I need to decide whether to go with mages or templars, I am guessing that the 5% experience perk isn't really worth it?
I've done alot of side quest, like get blankets, food, find a lady's ring the templars took, got a potion for a guy, etcetera. I'm guessing those are side quests and inquisitors path are the main ones. Are knowledge ones like history, magic, underworld?

Got a look of death for playing this, but..we'll talk it over,

You'll earn more than enough XP from side quests and main quests to make that XP perk worthless.

The Knowledge Perks (Magic, Nobility, Criminal and History) will open up unique dialogue options; you don't need all of them, but you should grab one or two.

The Inquisitor's Path quests are indeed the main quests. Don't stay in the Hinterlands too long; you don't want to over-level before going to recruit the mages or Templars.

Thanks, am at level 8.5 so I guess I'll pick templars, hope it's a good choice, guess I'll find out
;)

Can always replay again. Actually I probably will, hey first sick day in almost 5 years, why not right?

I don't know why Mia hates this game, its cool so far,

The Qunari seem cool so far, I don't know why Solas is always got a bug up his ass at the Iron Bull

All Mia tells me is wait until you have to make the big choice concerning Bull
Won't tell me anymote, lol, guess I'll find out

O.o
Wha? Dunno who she is but you should un-girlfriend her :P How can she toss DAI to the bin? D:
(just kidding, but really  :crying: )

Yeah, like others have said I suggest you first pick the dialogue perk for every branch (so you can have extra options in dialogues, you can talk about history, politcs, magic, lore etc etc). Then the others you should pick are the ones who increase potions, inventory, the Deft Hands, Fine tools one to open some extra doors.. If you want a vault later on with a funny guy in it who will give you a weapon if you answer his questions correctly you should also work to get the Elite Clientele too..

Be careful cause you can't get them all. The maximum influence lvl you can achieve is 20 so it's not possible to get all perks, you have to choose.

Good luck and enjoy the game :D

I only ever took Nobility and History knowledge because those made the most sense for my character.

Well even with the mage dialog perk it still makes things interesting because your character does know how both mages and templars work in politics even if your character is not a mage. You can still envoke someone to become tranquil when you make judgements at Skyhold (about 25% into the game. like level 12-14ish) and even make templarish type decisions.

I only ever took Nobility and History knowledge because those made the most sense for my character.

It made sense for my first character because she was a human noble. However I swear out of the two i made more nobility decisions than historical decisions. Historical is preatty neat though where your character is knowledgeable in land customs and know what certain locations would do if the person was sent there for X thing to have happen. It does open WAR TABLE missions here and there.

History knowledge definitely is not as useful as the other Knowledge categories. But my character wasn't a mage or a Carta dwarf, so the other Knowledge Perks didn't make much sense.

You will find that the Knowledge Perks get you added dialogue that can help you recruit agents, give different judgments, as well as get additional information. I recommend those and the perk to let you carry more items as the first to select. Then you will need Deft Hands, Fine Tools. Especially if you want to finish Blackwall's quest.

But no matter which order you choose to select your Perks, be sure to have the Nobility knowledge perk before you play Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts.
