I still spent much more hours playing ME3MP than any other game (SP and MP together). So considering we've established MP and SP are on separate budgets, with separate teams working on it, I'd rather say that I hope each team will focus all their allocated ressources in the game they are developping and hopefully deliver great games. If one ends up being bad, it won't be the fault of the other for supposedly draining ressources from the former, it will just be bad development/story-writing as it usually is in these cases.

Asking if BW should focus on SP over MP is a really misleading question that will only serve to antagonize the SP and MP communities for no reason whatsoever.

A separate budget doesn't mean making two games. It's the most basic idea of design that you don't want to run a project that duplicates it's own cost. Anything that can be shared between the two will be, because otherwise you're just wasting money.

Doesn't mean it's a bad thing to do this either, mind you, but there's a design cost to any choice to support two features rather than one even if you up the budget for the features jointly vs. alone.

Let me put it this way..... after I blew up the galaxy in March 2012 my thoughts were.... at least there is multi-player. It kept me entertained while I awaited the craptastic EC.

But after reading this thread I feel dumber.

Singleplayer. If they want to have a multiplayer IP, then build one rather than taking what was designed for a story driven single player game and go for multiplayer.

I'm not asking for Team Fortress 2 to go singleplayer.

I prefer solo playing and story lines, companions, personalised player character ... everything that Bioware is known for.

That being said however, multiplayer I personally feel could have used a ton more thought from the Devs responsible for creating it. I did enjoy ME3MP a lot, if I knew the people I'm grouping with, but DAI was really left behind in comparison. I found it a struggle not only to connect, and stay connected, to an mp map but also to find people who were actually able to play nice with newer players to mp even on lowest difficulty maps.

If they want more people to play, and enjoy, multiplayer side-spins in these single player games they're gonna have to buckle down and make the mp more entertaining and appealing, so that there means they need more focus from the multiplayer section of the staff. And I don't mean just maps or classes but connecting to the server, game lobbies, connection stability, map difficulties (clearly described so newbies don't go right for the hardest as often), have some proper challenge modes for players who need the hardest stuff mp can throw at them, less constant grinding for "needed" promotions (read about all that as a newcomer and sometimes you can just get really put off by how much you'd have to grind just to get to a specific point and you never start playing it after all) etc.

How is this even a question?  The singleplayer, obviously.  Don't get me wrong, I played the hell out of the ME3 MP mode, but I would not have any complaints if they cut out multiplayer entirely.

They should focus on the SP mode. MP is probably going to be an unmitigated disaster anyway, because the greedy EA overlords will **** up the few good ideas the devs have. Just compare ME3MP with DAMP. I am under no illusions that we'll get something as good or even better as ME3MP, it's most likely going to be a cashgrab by EA and nothing else. Even that aspect aside, DAMP failed hard at some very basic tasks, mainly balance.

If BioWare manages to surprise me with a fun MP mode, then I might even throw some money at them again. But I'm not going to get my hopes up. Not even for the SP.

Idk why this is a question.

Bioware should definitely focus on making the singleplayer experience as complete and fulfilling as possible. Then, and only when this is achieved (in a realistic setting), can they try and make an okay multiplayer.

People will definitely not buy a ME game for the Mp, it's just a nice extra.

And the Mp should not influence how the Sp is played, under no circumstance. Even if they have a darn good explanation and tie-in. NO!

What do you mean "Source?"? Play the bloody game and see for yourself, the maps used in the single player side missions are the exact same maps used in multiplayer matches.

How do you know that MP didn't borrow it from SP? I'll be honest, I have never played the MP so I wouldn't know.

The MP maps are much smaller and belong to extremely short side quests like unto the MP "missions".

SINGLE PLAYER.

ME is a single player franchise.  There are enough MP shooters out there that you don't have to turn a fun SP franchise into one.

I am only interested in single player. Co-op to the extent that a friend can be involved in combat with no in game justification.
