Scorewhoring, in its purest form, is the trading of potential credits earned during objective waves for points on the scoreboard. For example, if - during a hack or escort - the asshat Novaguard of the PUG never shows up to help out because said Novaguard is elsewhere on the map performing auto-erotic Novagasms to jack up their total points while others do the work. The hack/escort thus goes more slowly and thus fewer credits are earned by everyone.

Generally, scorewhoring encompasses all activities meant to maximize the score of the infantile, insecure douchetard "scorewhore" and may include cherry-picking, advanced "kill stealing", blocking the aim of or otherwise distracting teammates, unnecessary objective wave missiling, spawn nuking that isn't for efficiency or pleasure, intentionally failing to revive players with higher scores and other forms of machismo-related displays of testosterone neuroses.

Peer reviewed clinical studies have shown that 98% of scorewhores are males with over-sized testes yet undersized, underdeveloped or underperforming phalluses. Furthermore, these studies suggest that 64% of scorewhores not only have, or or at some point have had, an affinity for playing the vanilla Human Vanguard but have also admitted to multiple instances of taking the Level 20 kit to random Bronze games while equipping Level III/IV gear - solely for the purpose of increasing their self-perceived "epeen" quotient. Quite a bit of evidence has been collected that indicates an inverse correlation between actual "peen" function and self-reported levels of "epeen".

It is my understanding that a joint committee has been convened by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to create the diagnostic and prescriptive frameworks needed to include "Sexually Inadequate Scorewhore Syndrome" (SISSy) in the forthcoming DSM VI.

I haven't seen a pug novaguard in a long time, I thought they went extinct around mid 2012 or they all have been sent into orbit.

If you get outscored by that guy you really need to get better.
True scorewhores solo objectives, clutch waves, revive teammates, show scrubs how to play kits correctly and make the game seem a difficulty lower for the lesser teammates.

Agreed.

True scorewhoring is something special.

- Aim for non-missile Kill streaks

- Have the CQC/Staggering ability to revive PUGs in the thick of it

- Spawns only get nuked for speed/ease. Never on objective/extraction waves. Missiles on objective/extraction only to save PUGs from sync-killls or clear paths or switch targets.

-Spawn controlling by reviewing PUG base position between waves

-Target prioritizing.

You can tell the difference between proper scorewhoring and scrub scorewhoring by determining if the behavior is conducive to a smooth match. For example, nuking spawns on extraction never helps.

I see pug novaguards at least once or twice a week watching them charge everything leeroy jenkins style and getting synch killed or not using any gel is so nostalgic to when the game first came out

PUG novaguards don't realize that you gotta play on host without exception. Also only play vs cerberus.

OT, for easy revives draw aggro from the stomp patrol then sprint around the long way to give yourself time for a clean rez.

Also, don't play with BSNers.

I wouldn't call any of that "scorewhoring"... I'd call that just plain expertise. And expertise we should all aspire to, at that...

As the "wh0re" part of "scorewhore" indicates, the scorewhore is, at root, basically someone willing to exchange collective, tender-able MONEY for individual, non-tender POINTS. And further, that this whoring behavior arises out of a desperate need to self-medicate a poor sense of individual self worth by topping the scoreboard, no matter the collective cost.

For really easy revives:

1. Ask a friend to help out.

2. Choose Bronze.

3. Clear wave 1, except for the last enemy.

4. Let your friend get killed repeatedly and revive them.

5. After getting a gold Revive medal, wipe and repeat.

Play on reactor hazard/crabs/lolsilver/nude volus(no gear) and press the button lololololol

don't kill anything and keep spamming your broken cloak so the pugs don't lose aggro

condor and london also work

Lol silver

I hadn't played in months, and I was much more likely to topscore in Silver.

I MEAN MY FINGER SLIPPED WHEN I PICKED MY SETTINGS AND I HAD NO IDEA IT WASN'T GOLD UNTIL JUST NOW

No, it's that Silver goes with more of my outfits.

But really, it's that my moon is in Gemini, and that makes Silver my lucky birthstone.

And so forth...

Nice video Jeremiah :P

Lots of revives there.

The Volus Protector is quite the reviver! A shame he's so weak, I end up dying at times, so that doesn't help much. But he's still quite resilient with 2 attention takers, cloak and shield boost.

I'm almost 50% done with that one :)

It's a good idea, but I'm so far to have the other requirements, not to mention that those chars are not as good as the volus merc to revive, but it might work anyway.

I'll try the TS and AV and see if I can get some revives.

Why? I even used my mic today to let everyone know that I was going for revives.

Why would you deny me the revive?

Nice video Jeremiah :P

Lots of revives there.

Thanks. I used to do that all the time, before I became a score-wh*re. In this instance there was a strong self-preservation instinct at work. Without my buddies to draw some of the aggro, there was no way I was getting through that hack, so prioritizing their revival was actually critically necessary. I probably wouldn't be quite that quick on the draw facing the same situation while playing FBW vs Geth. smiley_innocent.gif

The Volus are a big adjustment in playstyle. I'd say they have a longer learning curve than the rest because they not only require using melee and cover very differently, but the low health makes them especially hard to learn (it takes a lot longer to learn when you spend most of your time facceplanting instead of seeing how the kit works.)

Once you get the hang of them, they can actually start to feel like some of the tankier kits in the game. The have an impressive array of damage mitigation abilities, and the Protector is the one with the most tools in his arsenal (I would say he's the most offensively effective, as well, although Remote Mine might offer some DPS advantages with some weapons that flips the numbers the Engineer's way.)
