Keeper vs. Elementalist - Death Siphon

Both characters have exclusive abilities and exclusive passives. I will underline them.

Elementalist: This is not the order I take abilities. I rush firestorm, firewall and death siphon before barrier and gathering storm.

Level 2: Peaceful Aura
Level 3: Winter Stillness
Level 4: Guardian Spirit
Level 5: Barrier
Level 6: Elegant Defense (could be delayed or not taken)
Level 7: Gathering Storm (could be delayed)
Level 8: Conductive Current
Level 9: Flashpoint
Level 10: Clean Burn
Level 11: Pyromancer
Level 12: Death Siphon
Level 13: Firestorm
Level 14: Wall of Fire
Level 15: Lightning Bolt
Level 16: Static Charge
Level 17: Lasting Flames (could take this before lightning bolt)
Level 18: Ability of choice, Ability Upgrade or Passive
Level 19: Ability of choice, Ability Upgrade or Passive

I consider the Elementalist complete at 13 or 14. Barrier, Firestorm, Firewall and Winters Grasp/Fadecloak. If I'm in the mood to use an inferno belt I'll upgrade immolate. Great CC, barrier support and OK(No belt) to GOOD(w/ belt) DPS.

Keeper: This is the order I take abilities.

Level 2: Elegant Defense
Level 3: Rejuvenating Barrier
Level 4: Peaceful Aura
Level 5: Cycle of Life
Level 6: Guardian Spirit
Level 7: Mana Surge
Level 8: Nature's Shield
Level 9: Winter Stillness
Level 10: Static Cage
Level 11: Lightning Cage
Level 12: Arcing Surge (Storm belt)/Fade Step/Fade Cloak/Disruption Field
Level 13: Fade Step/Fade Cloak/Disruption Field/Upgrade
Level 14: Clean Burn
Level 15: Conductive Current
Level 16: Disturbance of Spirit
Level 17: Gathering Storm
Level 18: Lightning Bolt
Level 19: Static Charge

I don't consider the Keeper complete until she has Gathering Storm and can spam Static Cage. Late bloomer at 17. Can't get Static Charge until 19! :angry: You can't solo very well with the storm belt, but it works surprisingly well in a group. With the belt she has similar DPS to that of the Arcane Warrior but is able to barrier the team as well as herself and CC with Static Cage. Team friendly compared to carrying faded team members to victory with the Arcane.

My main beef with the Keeper is the lack of Death Siphon. To be honest, I'm not sure why they gave Death Siphon to the Elementalist. But, since they did they should have given it to the Keeper as well. Maybe they thought Mana Surge and Rejuvenating Barrier was enough? Both Static Cage and Disruption field cost 65 mana. Barrier and Chain Lightning both cost 50. Wall of Fire and Immolate only cost 35.

It's a shame they couldn't do the following:

Add Death Siphon
Swap Cycle of Life and Nature's Shield with Mana Surge and Guardian Spirit
Swap Gathering Storm and Conductive Current
Buff Reinforced Barrier

Am I crazy for thinking the Keeper should have Death Siphon?

Beerfish, do you look at your mini-map? You should take a video of what you see in-game when playing with an Elementalist that is using Firestorm and Firewall. I would get a kick out of it.

Oh I can see plenty of red dots all over the place, some right in front of me.  The non FS FW ele is so damn elegant, so dashing, the best all around character in the game imo.

 

(I didn't mean to hijack your thread though so others should carry on and respond to the actual intent if the thread.)  :)

Sorry Beerfish, have to agree with Pronto on this one, firestorm spam used to be my favourite thing back when perilous was actually hard. Sure, he's certainly not the most elegant or dashing... He's more of a Wesley Snipes than a Pierce Brosnan, I suppose. But it means I get to tell people "LEARN TO LOVE MY SCREENSHAKE".

Skulls do 35% base weapon damage and don't crit or stack. Enemy skulls OHKO players through walls, and then knockdown-lock their fade ghost. This sounds feasible.

I think fade shield would have made more sense than death siphon.

But what do I know. I was caught casting Veil Strike recently.
