Greetings, Saikyo Groupies! It has come to my attention that many people in the "entertainment media" have been commenting extensively on the quality of the Dojo-Approved Assault Rifle, the peerless M-76 REVVAY. The Sensei cannot explain why there is this level of attention for the Main Gun this week, but the Sensei doesn't look a gift set of natto in the ectoplasm, if you know what I mean, ha ha ha!
gadoken.gif(pictured: Warp)
Since the Sensei is aware that some of you, who of course shall go unnamed except where you are named, do not share the Sensei's appreciation for the REVVAY, the Sensei has undertaken to obtain only the highlights of these comments so that you may be enlightened in a more efficient fashion. Where appropriate, of course, the Sensei has added words of wisdom so you don't actually make the embarrassing mistake of thinking bad things about the REVVAY.

Right to the point with no subtlety. Excellent! But the Sensei doesn't give out Legend of Taunting Awards like they were candy, nosirree.

Fortunately, I am well trained for this situation!

Dear Biowear,

I hear the critics are raving about the "Revvay" but I'd like to send an RMA for my defective Revenant. It can't kill anything, It recoils like a shotgun (Assault rifles don't do that), it spreads bullets from west to east and from north to south (Assault rifles definitely don't do that). Please see to it that either I get a refund or have my weapon repaired because i've seen it works well for some other guys:

That was the first weapon I went for on my maxed X-Box manifest a few days ago for two matches in a row.

It was also my most used pug weapon during pug days. Because I remembered it being so awesome in ME2.

Have you ever sneezed in your car and realized there's no napkins or tissues in the glove compartment?

You can thank the Revenant for that.

Remember that friend who said they respected your relationship with your partner and then dated them anyway when you were presumed dead and marooned on an island?

That's the Revenant for you.

And have you ever gone into a restaurant and squeezed some name-brand ketchup on to your plate, tasted it and then realized it was generic brand tomato product?

You guessed it! The Revenant.

Revenant is not bad, (although it was neutered from ME2) it's spread is absolutely ridiculous for what it does. I did use it a lot on the Tsol, back when the Hurricane did hit you in the face with it's recoil, & before it was buffed into god status.

The things I can say about the M-76 Revenant. Awesome sound, especially under markman, great stamina even when in MM, solid damage output vs large targets.

But nowa days I love the Geth Spitfire because Mini-Guns are awesome.

I used it all day yesterday on Gold while filling out my Tsol waves.  It was actually a lot of fun.  Even topped the pug scoreboards... once or twice, which was simultaneously disappointing and more than I was expecting.  Think I got the 5 Headshot medal once... panic-firing at Husks.  The sound made it worth it.

Phantoms constantly made a mockery of me with their on-host DR though.

The main problem I have with the Revenant (along with Striker & Spitfire) on other accuracy boosting classes other then Destroyer is it's strong legs requirement for strafing while firing. And Batarians, Jetpack Turians, Jug (I think?) and even Volus have the strongest legs at +200 CWS in ME3mp for firing and strafing. Second is the Destroyer at +160. And third are the Krogans at + 120. Forget about the rest.

Being able to strafe butt lazers, scion shots and so on while still providing dps in return is something I don't take for granted in this game. One of my favourite things to do. And sometimes you need to be able to get into soft blankets while still returning fire too.

Combat Walk Speed reference;

Don't take my word for it. Compare it for yourself in game. TSol and GI simple cannot fire these weapons and strafe.

I know bout the Revanant's slow's down movement speed while firing, it's also why I think the Hurricane is the real descendant from ME2's Revenant.

It's pretty weird that only 3 weapons are so heavily affected by Combat Walk Speed. Otherwise Combat Walk Speeds still dictates how fast a kit can strafe overall. It's like the secret hidden attribute of Batarians, Jetpack Turians, Volus and Jug. Because not being able to sidestep Scion shots & buttlazors fast enough is pretty lame. Especially on none dodge-able kits.

This also really sucks on Flamer kits, because they can't Flamer and sidestep at the same time fast enough (they move like they're firing the Revenant). But Flamer is beyond OP as is anyway. So I'm not complaining.

The Revenant is far from the top tier. But yesterday I did an experiment, for the sake of science. I put the Revenant on my Quarksman and went pugging. I did the Revenant challenge in two games by the simple expedient of using AP IV and staying in MM most of the time. If the worst scrub in the history of scrubbery can do that, it can't be as bad as it's made out to be.

I think sometimes BSN has more trouble with balance than Bioware, even.

I have cosplayed as a stormtrooper with the revenant. Human engineer with white and black armor, just hipfire a lot and never hit anything, which should be pretty easy.

Saw The Revenant twice yesterday.

At first in the afternoon. It was a little bit long but good.
Second in the evening out in pug land. That was horrible.
