If you could switch 2 romance options, who would you cut, and who would replace them?

Obviously I do or I wouldn't be participating in this thread. I'm saying that whatever personal choices you make based on character, you should also leave each sexual orientation of protagonist with at least a couple of romance options.

It seems that people are making choices based solely on their own personal fantasy, though. I guess that's fine as nothing that we say in this thread will be anything more than talk. I just thought that leaving a recognisable BioWare game was implicit in the OP's question...

Oh, well I thought the point of the thread was to say who you would personally like to replace and who you'd replace them with. I didn't think we were supposed to take realism into account and make sure there are at least 2 options for each orientation.

Abelas, I agree.
But Samson? Come on he's disgusting.

So is Cole - a spirit that possesses a corpse -, but he has fans. Same with Cassandra. There are men who find her to be horribly masculine.

As for Samson, give him a bath, send him to rehab, place a sword in his hand to give him a chance to prove his worth once more and done. You'll see the man past the "disgusting" bit. In case you missed his entire story of life, you know.

I took it that way, since both of the people I chose are people whom I wouldn't romance but knew were popular. :P

Uh, you know "Cole is possessing nothing and no one", right? He simply manifested in the same form as someone he couldn't save, which he didn't even realize for a while. A bit like the spirit of Justinia taking her form.

Now that the game's out? None. I mean, I would've had Cass and Cullen swing both ways (), but I wouldn't give anybody the boot.

Prior to the announcement I was 100% ready for LI Varric, but it wasn't in the cards.

Frankly i agree about both Cullen and Cassandra about how they should swing both ways. I mean even how she reacted to my character in my first playthrough she sounded like she was conteplating it. I mean seriously it was like:

Cassandra: I heard from the others that you've taken a liking to me.

Inquisitor: I have been. Is there a problem with that.

Cassandra: No, not really...but....with all of the flirting...I mean....you're a woman and I am a woman...I do see you as a dear friend but...not in that way.

I mean seriously she hesitates and acts all bashful over the fact that your female inquisitor kept hitting on her repeatedly. From the constant pauses it to me sounds like a part of her is interested in swinging towards you but the rest doesn't because of ego and how others may react.

As far as Cullen I can see him swinging towards men. It did seem like he willingly accepted Dorian for what he is and enjoyed his antics during the chess game. But sadly for all i know he hasn't fantisized about yet since DAO. I am unsure if I played a male mage in DAO but even in DAI he just flat out sounds not into men from his conversation in Haven when you try to hit on him. It wasn't like how Cassandra was with the pausing he took at it being "uhhh....awkward....."..

I feel they should rework Josephine. Keep her bi but expand on it. It was like after I got Liliana's "ok" that was it for Josephine. Frankly Vivianne should be an option. Also Iron Bull's felt kind of gross and nonsensical.

You know, what? I'm gonna not say anything about this. It's not positive and I'd get yelled at, lol.

It is considered acceptable to say that stuff about straight people, but try starting a sentence with "I think Dorian is interested in women".

Cassandra acted the way she did because trying to turn someone down politely is always awkward.

Especially when you actually appreciate them and still want to be friends with them. Which is usually the case with the lady Inquisitor and Cass (since her appreciation of Quizzie was high enough for trigerring her personnal quest).

...but really, I want to thank the Bioware fandom for making me feel like a goddam unicorn.

Ah, right. Because Cassandra's entire personal quest was built around attempts to blood magic away her explicitly-established-as-ironclad straightness, thus making the two characters absolutely comparable.

I'm to play the devil's advocate here, but one could argue that Dorian could have been straight or bisexual and his personnal quest would have worked the same, as long as his loathing of bloodmagic and his refusal to "close his eyes and think of the Imperium" remained unchanged.

To clarify, I'm fairly sure he only hates "real" blood magic--which, granted, was part of his personal quest. However, I will say that it's irrelevant, because while his personal quest might have been similar if he was straight, his being gay was clearly a large part of the reality as presented in the game. Cassandra's orientation, meanwhile, was utterly irrelevant to her story.

The same can be said about Bull's and Sera's orientations though - he being pansexual and she being a lesbian have nothing to do with their personnal quest and utterly irrevelant to their story.

I thought about this a really long time and I came to the conclusion.

I would replace NO ONE

but

Give me  <3 (Hug) options for Varric, Cole and Dorian!

The only way to hug Varric, is to leave Hawke in the Fade. So a no-go.  :?

I just want to hug my friends! o^o

I was gonna say something conderdicting to that but I changed my mind about it. Becuase I'm not one for pissing off people when it's not worth the reaction otherwise. And I'm a straight female, too.

As others have said, she's pausing because she's flattered, doesn't want to hurt your feelings, and also wants to keep you as a friend. That would be hard to express properly, for me anyway.

It's really a shame we can't hug people almost at all. It's a great way to show platonic love, something Bioware barely gives us any chances to express.

I would replace Sera with Scout Harding as the lesbian love interest and I would make Leliana romanceable to both sexes if she was not in a relationship with the Hero of Ferelden. The rest are fine as they are.

In his personal quest, Subjected To His Will, he confesses having possessed the mage Cole just after he starved to death.

Like the spirit of faith possessed Wynne.

It's still possession, no matter how well-intended.

No, Cole isn't possessing anyone. There are entire conversations about this. He took physical form without using a body.

The two biggest romance misses are Varric and Scout Harding. I was so disappointed no dwarf romances Again!. I would drop Iron Bull  and Dorian as I like their romance more; Never romanced Josie so that could go too for me. Vivienne as much as I hate her would have been a really interesting romance choice as well. All other romances I'd keep as is.
