I'm mining the crap out of every colony and doing upgrades and I'm wondering which ones will transfer over.

All new playthroughs after the first give you 50k resources, 200k credits, one
of your squad's bonus skill at the start of the game, and 25% more
experience gained. I think these bonuses stack on top of ME1 bonuses.(so you can start with over 300k credits for example)

As far as I can tell, only your level, class, and appearance transfer over from an ME2 import. It seems rather pointless unless you like starting out at the level cap.

I hate the scanning minigame as it absorbs too much time and was hoping something other than the above would make it worth the time. Do you get to keep your bonus weapon class or any of the heavy guns you researched? Thanks for the info btw.

A lot of the side missions transfer over, though often in ways that you'd have to go out of your way to notice. For example, I just ran across that couple that was arguing in the Presidium in the first game while running around the Citadel in ME2 - though I could only tell it was them because of the background chatter they were making. If I hadn't had the subtitles on I probably wouldn't have known. A lot of other things appear in the form of emails to your personal computer on the Normandy, little nods on the Galactic news stations on the Citadel, that one reporter appearing again (the nasty one), etc, etc. I haven't seen anything big so far, aside from the fact that they do seem quite keen on mentioning it if you did the Cerberus missions from the first game. That's the one thing that they seem to bring up the most, though only in passing so far.
Then again I'm only a third of the way through the game. *shrug*

No I mean importing a ME2 character and using your ME2 character in a new game.
