How many squad members do you want in Andromeda?

Six high quality squad members who have well developed backstories and input in the conversations and decisions throughout the course of the game is something I would want to see. Not just banter from time-to-time but actual unique input based on who you bring on the mission at the time when you are presented with the current problem.

I agree with that. It would be nice especially the backstory part.

I would also like it it applied to crewmembers as well. I like for them to have unique dialogue in-between missions with the main character. Maybe even give them an extra scene since they can't be on missions like the squadmates.

I think 5 would work ok.  That's big enough to give you variety, but small enough where you can get to know each one better and on a deeper level.

A small number honestly. I like the idea of having a smaller squad cast but having more depth and variation between them (branching personal questlines/romances, etc...) and more customizable in terms of builds. I didn't care for the 'dirty dozen' setup of ME2 since there was only a handful that were actually useful for most situations (Miranda...) and Inquisition was pretty skewed (6 male, 3 female).

I liked ME1's setup with even squad gender/race ratio. (1 male human, 2 male aliens, 1 female human, 2 female aliens). Enough to have some party diversity, one character for each 'class' (and you can build them accordingly) and a bit of commentary during side quests/scenes. Too many squadmates decreases the whole commentary and makes some characters feel redundant or unnecessary.

My ideal would be a blend of ME1 and DA2's setup. 4 romance options (male human, male non-human, female human, female non-human) and 2 non-romance options, ideally non-human (male and female) but I'd be okay if they were human. One of each ME class obviously, if classes return. If not it could be one male and female combat type, tech type and biotic type.

The less the better. 4-6 would be ideal.

9 or 13, I like having more characters to get to know and it adds more options with how each squad member adds to whatever scenario. More isn't always better in circumstances like this but there is a medium and I feel it's somewhere between 9-13. More squad means more story, backstory etc(even if it's not gratuitous) but if ME:A is indeed a one shot and not(though I hope it is) a start to a new trilogy I would want a smaller number of about 6-9 for testing waters sake.

I'd say 8 will do. It's a good number. Not too low and not too high.

If the leaked survey proves to be true like it was for Dragon Age: Inquisition, then we already know of 1 male krogan (I guess, the name sounds male), and 1 Asari.

I'm not accounting for possible new races or classes here:

2 Human (male, female)

1 Asari (female)

1 Turian (female)

1 Krogan (male)

1 Batarian (male)

1 Quarian (male)

1 Salarian (female)

4 males, 4 females.

2 soldiers, 2 adepts, 1 sentinel, 1 engineer, 1 infiltrator, 1 vanguard.

6, one of each class, 2 main non-companion characters, plus the PC = 9

I like the number 9, I have great reasons

Hmmmmm, 6-9 seems to be good. I'd lean towards to less personally, but more can add a nice variety of personality.  However, more also means you are more likely to have a team member you dislike and never use.

This is a 2 way street >.>

Seven to nine will not be enough. Especially when I plan on playing more than once. Give me twelve to fifteen. With the option to take one, two, or three squadmates with me.

I also like the idea of one of each class + 2 major non combat characters.

This also allows sequels to allow some ballooning as they add more to the cast, low start out and then grow is best.

A minimum of 6. ME1 did really well with that.

MEA is likely to incorporate native Andromedan species into the main cast on top of the usual suspects from the trilogy, so likely we'll get more than 6, and I'm hoping the large cast will be done in a way that resembles ME3's handling; new faces and old faces were given their due throughout the main story without necessarily being squadmates during battle. On occasion they were present for our fights to aid in narrative and objectives such as Steve's moments in Leviathan or like the whole (surviving)cast was in Citadel. MEA won't have any specific old faces but rather representatives of "old" species next to the new ones so I can be happy just as long as people get lots of good development. Not like DAI where it felt like bad calculus.

Also, for any of it to work the bulk of our non-combat interactions with the cast will need to be done via cut-scene like ME3. Not the stale misguided isometric fetish in DAI.

Six, and there should be more than one asari.

I never felt like ME1 had too few squadmates. ME2 was overkill, when I play ME2 I normally don't recruit Thane or Samara.

Just as long as I have a Salarian, Volus, and Blasto, I'm good.

I'd go with six (one of each class type) and possibly one secret character.

This.

Anywhere from 6-9 would be fine for me, but tbh I tend to pick 3-4 out of the total companions and stick with them.  It also depends on my Class that dictates which companions I stick too in any given PT.

I think a lot of it depends on how many you can bring on missions.  I like ambient dialogue and interaction during missions.  DA was better for that since you could bring 3 others, whereas you could only bring 2 others in ME.  It was particularly bad in ME2 where almost everyone had characters they literally only used in their loyalty missions.
