It's kind of ironic how Kaidan is considered submissive, yet is up there with Wrex and Zaeed in that he will criticize Shepard and eventually pull a gun on her, potentially forcing Shepard to kill him (though Zaeed doesn't force Shepard since an explosion breaks his moment). 

 

Something tells me that most of the folks thinking that way never romanced Kaidan, maybe it's more perception, biased opinions playing a major role, than anything else. I have done the romance with Kaidan with my canon femshep, and I have no idea where he is supposed to be a weak submissive guy. I was thinking hard in my head, but nothing came. Never once thought he was weak or submissive, at least not in the way the OP wishes. It would be interesting to know why he is so much perceived like that though. 

 

Is it because he admires Shepard, like basically all the other companions do ? Is it because he shows some respect to femshep / his love ? Is it because he obeys to his commander like a professional soldier ? Is it because he hasn't a bordeline behavior like Jack sometimes for example ? Or is it because he is supportive, nice and calm most of time ? ( which obviously has nothing to do with being submissive ) Kaidan in all the episodes despite being a nice guy never hesitated to give his own opinions and his disagreements if there were, so I'm not uncertain why so many folks think that way. 

 

I played yesterday M1 with my femshep for example, and when Kaidan regretted the death of Jenkins, my femshep answered that we couldn't save him, and his response was : " that doesn't mean I like it. " And when my femshep said - joking - that the best way to explore the universe was behind a canon. He almost rolled his eyes, obvously it didn't please him what she said. I also punched a guy on Eden Prime, he disagreed with how behaved my femshep. That is only the beginning of the game as well. There are many other examples. The most powerful ones for me being the refusal to follow Shepard with Cerberus in M2, and pointing a gun on her in M3...

 

So Kaidan, the weak submissive guy, eeh, okay ?
