Inquisitor will return in a more polished role of Hawke's in DA:I. I see Hawke as the test run for returning protagonist in dragon age games, from Hawke Bioware should have a good idea on what the fans want in a returning hero. Customizing them was something they did right but being unable to play them or have them as a temporary party member was not ok, something I think will change. As well as control over there dialogue.

But No to the Inquisitor being the main character for DA4, Ultimately I would want all my PCs to return because I got attach to each of there stories but I am 100% content if they dont. Dragon Age unique new character each approach is basically one of the unique things about Dragon Age and a returning PC would undo the fresh blank character creation setup they are going back to.

There were a lot of things they got wrong about NPC Hawke that they shouldn't have needed a test run to know were bad ideas. So I'm not optimistic if they choose to have Quizzy become an NPC as well.

And please, next time, can we have all of the hair from the previous games? I (and many others) can't recreate my Hawke worth crap because the hair options from DA2 are non-existent. I mean, unless your Hawke is bald, you're basically out of luck, and I don't want that to happen to the Inquisitor, NPC or not.

I second this, haha. The hair options were kind of a let-down this time around.

As for the Inquisitor returning, I don't see BioWare doing that either. After all, Dragon Age is not about the story of a certain protagonist, like Mass Effect was, but rather, opens up new stories and new perspectives with each installment.

On the other hand, I feel like BioWare might've painted themselves in a corner with Solas (possibly) being the main antagonist of the game, or at least a very important character because, well, he wants to destroy the world and everything. With all the Inquisitor has gone through with Solas, be it good or bad, I personally just don't see a way of resolving this conflict without the Inquisitor as the main driving force. It's not just the faceless darkspawn or the conflict between mages and templars that affects everyone - it's Solas. It's personal (even more so when the Inquisitor is friends with or even romanced him). Replacing the Inquisitor with another protagonist to resolve this issue would feel jarring to me, and not in a good way. The Inquisition may be disbanded or an arm of the Chantry, but the Inquisitor's story isn't quite over yet.

TRUE! It was very disappointing that we did not get to control Hawke at least for a moment. I felt like knowing Hawke very well, but not being able to express my happiness and excitement to see him thru the Inquisitor :/

No.... That would've made Hawke a duel Progie with the Quiz! Unacceptable!

I think the Inquisitor will play a mentor role for the next game.

What if Cullen only wanted you for your dainty hands?

My Inqusitor needs to re-find Solas to have vida loca with him. After she finds him and brings him back she can rest and have sex all day too. Amen.

Yeah, I suppose it does. And me saying no the Hawke being controlled in DAI has to steam off that I simply don't think that Bioware is wanted Hawke to be like the Inquistor, a playable PC...

I'd be 'hooked' right away if my quizzy was included though i might be a bit 'stumped' as to why.  I'd 'point' out the flaws in this concept if I could.  Could be an 'arms' race between solas and the Inquisition.  I would 'applaude' the story line probably and give the writers a hearty 'slap' on the back.  Might be better if we 'hand' the main story line off to another person though.

Gotta 'hand' it to you: your explanation for why the inquisitor might loose her 'grip' on the story is hard as a 'fist'. 'Thumbs-up' for this post!

I'll have to agree. I'm more invested into my lavellan than any DA character I've created. Their him coming back would be amazing. However I know how BW works so I'm really not going to get my hopes up.

maybe our new PC is trained by our Inquisitor to finish what they can't because that lack of arm.

But I would say a new PC is one of DA series strong suits and ME series weakpoint and its only that case because Bioware doesn't wanna go hardcore when it comes to making choices matter.

By cutting of the Inquisitor's arm + him/her saying "my adventuring days may be over" I'd say that he won't be the protag. At most a cameo similar to Hawke

I bet they did this on purpose. "Oh look, the Inquisitor lacks an arm, so what good is he/she adventuring and beating the crap out of bad guys?"

The crossbow prosthesis that's shown in the epilogue in case you became a Red Jenny is still nice, though.

My theory for some time has been that DA4 will take something of a Geralt-Ciri approach. The open gameplay and the focus of the game will mostly be on new protagonists but there will be shorter story segments starring the Inquisitor.

In the day of the GameCube, there was a game called Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. Sphinx was the primary protagonist, he did all the fighting and much of the dungeons that advanced the story. But every once in awhile the player would take control of the Mummy inside the villain's fortress, navigating complex puzzles to retrieve items and reveal plot tidbits.

I imagine a similar relationship, the Inquisitor's segments would have no combat but instead would be very dialogue and story heavy, possibly involving sneaking missions (Think Mark of the Assassin) and puzzles. There might be a war table interface. The Inquisitor's choices would then affect the game world the new PC explores and fights through.

I really don't want to be the Inquisitor again. The Warden had more personality, and they couldn't even talk. :P

I feel the inquisitor lost the hand deliberately, as in it was a deliberate decision on the parts of the devs so they could justify not using them as a protagonist.  You can't wield a bow (except for that weird thing if you join the Red Jennies), you can't wield a staff properly, a two handed sword/axe/hammer.  They've been disabled rather thoroughly.  The only class that could overcome this is the Mage, because you can still do a helluva lot of magic without the hand and with a staff in one hand only.

Plus, Inky explicitly states during at least one of the conversation options in the exalted council that their adventuring days are over.

I feel at best they'll be someone you meet regularly, an ally from down south.  They'll be their when you confront Solas, but not in a true player capacity.  A companion, if you will.

More likely it was a "See, we're not killing your character this time!  Happy?"

Edit:  That being said, I'd be quite happy to retire the Inquisitor even with both arms.  That story is done.  Time for a new story with a new hero.

What I would like is a dual protagonist game, with a new hero who we play for 75% of the time and the Inquisitor for about 25%. This however is unlikely, and my sensible opinion is that the Inquisitor will likely be back as a major character. I'd go as far to say his inclusion is cert. especially with deciding how he/she is going to approach Solas and alluding to finding the next protagonist. I'm also expecting repercussions from drinking from the well of Mythal.

I think we'll be the inquisitor again. Instead of a magic hand we will have a... robotic hand or something

Geez, even without a hand you guys still can't let it go.

i think our back story should be that we were trained by the Inquisitor lol. Instead of us seeing our Inquisitor again they are instrumental in preparing our character for DA4

I'm pretty sure that whether the Inquisitor makes an appearance or not, he or she will be instrumental in recruiting the new protagonist to the cause.
