Hey, I know this is old news but I haven't really been able to play Dragon Age Inquisition until the past couple of days. Dragon Age Origins was amazing, Dragon Age 2 was okay, and Inquisition is the finest game in the series to date.I kept encountering some rare issue with my game where the sound started to start buzzing and would eventually end up sounding like static. If I persisted in playing the games framerate would degrade and eventually crash my computer. I loved Mass Effect 3's multiplayer and the multiplayer for Inquisition is actually really enjoyable. I love grinding through hordes of enemies only to end up gambling my well earned gold on chests for random loot. Promoting your characters and outfitting them with customized gear and weapons is just icing on the cake. However after playing the multiplayer for almost ten hours straight I've had my share of problems.
First of all the fact that there are no dedicated servers kind of sucks but I understand that servers are pricey to manage. However I can't emphasize that the biggest downfall of the multiplayer is the abhorrent connection issues. Yes, if you have a crappy internet connection then you shouldn't be hosting games. That seems all the more infuriating when your internet connection is 35 down and 6 up and you can't host a lobby worth a damn or the fact that I keep disconnecting from hosts whenever I'm trying to find a lobby in general. My internet connection is perfectly fine, I can play online game perfectly normal with three or even four other people playing multiplayer games in the house but all of a sudden inquisition just seems to flop for no real explanation. There are too many people with terrible internet connections trying to host games and it has me wondering if the real problem lies somewhere with Origin itself or maybe the game is still problematic.
The sprinting is pretty much a joke, you get a +3% (seemingly) increase in movement speed if you hold down shift. *clap* it's almost useless unless you are trying to sidestep an incoming arrow or if you just want to get a minor power walk session before you are caught out of the retirement home and they eventually drag you back. Thankfully Isabella has movement speed bonuses that stack with Elusive. At least in Mass Effect 3 it was actually a crucial mechanic that allowed you to slink behind much needed cover. The movement just feels so slow within multiplayer that it makes the mode seem like a chore at times when you want clear a level.
An implemented way to kick afkers would be much appreciated. I literally sat at the ending of a level waiting on some tank for fifteen minutes just to start the final event. I don't mind carrying afk players, I just hate the fact that they hinder my ability to complete the level. I would like to complete the current level and start another rather than waiting around for the tank just to place a banner. I tried telling my teammates to kick the guy over voice chat, but they just stood there waiting and didn't even lift a finger.
An actual chat UI would be amazing. Not a lot of people use voice chat so an in game chat ui for PC players would do wonders.
Other than that the multiplayer is amazing. My feedback probably means nothing as they already finished putting all of the content out for the game. But hopefully my feedback will be considered and possibly implemented in the next Dragon Age game in the series, and lets hope the multiplayer is ironed out just a bit more =)
