Hi all. I have a question regarding keys and doors, or chests... or wherever. The way it is now, is that if a party member has the key, the rest can't unlock the door. So basically only the owner. This is a bit old school for my taste. Is there a method to override this aspect of the game or is it just a dream to even think about it?

Well, I don't know about actual doors, but the script I wrote for my placeable doors and lockable objects checks the whole party for the key, not just the main user.  But I've seen other modders add scripts to On Fail To Open that runs a check to see if someone else has the key, and it makes the controlled PC speak a string telling the other party member to come open the door.

I see. So one would need a FailToOpen override of the default behavior in any case. Good idea with floating text. Thanks. I just thought there might be a property on the door that I'm missing :).

Not that I know of, but the generic scripts for conversations also have options that let you check the whole party for an item, if you happen to use a conversation on the door instead of the normal lock.

The logical reason the party might not be checked for the key is that the rogue may have snuck past all the monsters and reached the door, so the party is not nearby.
