Here are some of the world states I have or plan to make:

-Pro-Mage: All 3 protagonists are mages and fight for mage freedom.

-Pro-Templar: All 3 protagonists are non-mages and are wary of or outright despise magic.

-Pro-Dalish: Dalish Warden and Dalish Inquisitor + Hawke who romanced Merrill and supported her restoration of the Eluvian.

-This World Is Screwed: Basically try to make all the worst possible choices to screw over Thedas as much as possible just for shits and giggles. Some choices include forcing Lady Isolde to kill Connor, annulling the Circle and killing Wynne, defiling the Sacred Ashes and killing Leliana, Alistair becomes a wandering drunkard, aggressive Hawke allows Meredith to kill his sister, giving Fenris to Danarius, giving Isabela to Arishok, killing Anders, rivals with all companions including Varric, Inquisitor denies being Herald, templars are conscripted, Gaspard becomes Emperor, hardened Leliana becomes Divine, Grey Wardens exiled, Morrigan drinks from Well, Hawke dies, etc. In general, these protagonists are terrible people all around, and they are out for personal gain and/or power. As a result, the world suffers. XD

I've never actually worked up the courage yet to play through that last terrible world state. It will be an interesting ride to say the least. Haha.

I'm not suer I could be that much of a bleep  and do aql lthose things maybe have a ruthless nasty hero in one of the 3 games but I can't see myself wanting to do it all the way through

I try to change it up, so that I won't be playing as the same character in every game. It'd be really weird if every famous hero was the same, lol. My world states used to look different before my favorite Hawke died in DA:I. I've since done some rearranging and come up with this. Subject to change.

Belorfin Tabris - Anya Hawke (rogue) - Victor Trevelyan (mage)

Jeffrey Cousland (warrior) - Belorfin Hawke (warrior) - Tai Levellan (warrior)

Victor Surana (mage) - Jeffrey Hawke (warrior) - Rory Cadash (warrior)

Darren Brosca (warrior) - Victoria Hawke (mage) - Human Warrior, possibly.

I didn't want to end up with three Victors, three Belorfins, etc. in the exact same world state. I didn't want humans to solve the world's problems, or elves, or dwarves, or mages. I tried for diversity.

(Duran Aeducan is not mentioned, due to being dead.)

Yes, I do.

Mostly in the ways that the posters above have mentioned.

My only complaint is that ten world states is not enough for my surplus of Wardens, Hawkes, Inquisitors. Maybe 15?

It's just that I find that there are so many various ways you can shape a world state and its protagonists. So I'm always getting new ideas that I want to implement for a new world state.

I can't believe I agree with AlanC on something for once.

By the way, I did originally theme my world states, before changing my mind sometime while playing DA2.

Not so much themes, exactly, but I did initially try to match the world state with the DAI character I created. For example, for my first PT with a Dalish elf, my Warden was a Dalish elf too. For my dwarf quizzy, I imported a dwarf Warden. For my first human, I imported a human noble Warden. I think I also have one where all the heroes are mages. After that, I kinda went random. I did 1 PT with a default world state, and the next game I have lined up is a fake world state where everyone who could be dead, is dead. I didn't really tailor Hawke too much since, same origin. I just used whatever happened with the Warden I imported into DA2.

I just don't like too much overlap. Except for humans, since the story so far mostly revolves around their homes. So if I have a dwarven or elven warden, I won't make another in DAI.

I only wish they allowed us to at least put an identity to the Orlesian warden.. at least to mix things up more. I like creating backstories for them too (if my Warden sacrificed themselves).

No. Just filled out to match the decisions that i naturally made while playing the game. (With one or two small decision changes)

I agree. I still think it's bizarre that the Orlesian warden isn't in the Keep for a hero of Ferelden who died in Denerim. Mine was a gray haired old fellow with a well-kept beard, very calm and calculated.

All my world states are themed in a way. It helps me keep track of which character belongs in which world state. I have a warrior world state, human female mage world state, dalish world state, etc, etc. Next up is a dwarf-centered world state.

My main one ended up killing one of her own chevalier compatriots.. she got fed up with the abuse of power. She was forced into the Wardens as a mercy, since the Empress knew her. That was years ago.

I just had to have a do-gooder Orlesian, y'know? :D

I try to have themes but my memory is terrible and I always end up forgetting what my train of thought was beyond "all bad decisions" and "all good decisions" and maybe "elf heroes" and dwarf heroes."

Apart from my "canon" worldstate, yes.

World 1) Elven Mage Love Worldstate: Surana (mage elf) loves Zevran, mage Hawke loves Merrill (mage elf), Mage Lavellan loves Cullen (who had loved Surana).

World 2) Dwarf Power Worldstate: The Warden was Brosca, Hawke was pro-Templar, the Inquisitor is Cadash.

I do something similar to PCThug, I have three different world states, and for those interested, you can read about them below:

Human-Male-Mage Warden, picked the "good" options over "evil", saved people when he could, i.e. Connor freed, Redcliffe saved, etc.  Alistair rules with Anora.  Romanced Morrigan and performed ritual with her.

Male-Mage Hawke, Diplomatic, sided with mages, preferred friendship over rivalry, Tallis romance

Human-Male-Mage Inquisitor, Allied with mages, reconciled leaders of Orlais, drank from the well, decent to high approval from all companions, romanced Cassandra.  Leliana is inspired and is Divine.

- It's my canon because I like how Mage Hawke is related to the Mage Warden, and Mage Inquisitor has a more personal stake in the following events, since he's a human Free Marcher who is a mage.  All three characters believe in the Maker, agreeing that magic is a gift from him, and as such they should use it properly.  I call it "Maker's Will"

Then I have an "alternate" world state, similar to the canon, but with them being warriors instead of mages:

Still the good options, but went with the "other" choice, like Bhelen instead of Harrowmont and Alistair rules alone instead of with Anora.  Romanced Leliana.

Male Warrior Hawke: sided with the Templars, but Bethany spared (She's my sister!  I am NOT killing my own sister.) Romanced Isabela.

Human Male Warrior Inquisitor: Allied with the Templars, reconciled leaders of Orlais, Morrigan drank from the well, decent to high approval from all companions.  Romanced Josephine.  Cassandra is Divine.

- I like this one because it's a "what-if".  What if my characters didn't have magic?  What then?  Similar ideals and what-not, but still an alternate reality without the "evil twin" thing.  They are all Templars, and strive to emulate what the Templars SHOULD be, rather than what some of them do.  I call it "Templar's Triumph"

And then I have a third, which is basically everything that I feel fits a Dalish/Elven perspective.  City Elf-Female-Rogue Warden, Female-Warrior-Hawke, sarcastic personality (who romanced Fenris, was friends with Merril), and a Female Elf Mage Inquisitor who romanced Solas.

Not necessarily anti-human, but if it comes down to humans or elves, my elf Warden/Inquisitor chooses elves.  "Elven" Hawke can't do that for obvious reasons, so for her it's more of a "I just want people to get along, or get out of my way."  I call it "Elven Legacy"

My canon, as I said, is the first one, it's the most roleplaying-intensive one I have, since I play as if it were "me" in the world, so I have a more heartfelt investment in it.  I keep the other two to try different things, but "Maker's Will" is my story.

Truthfully I have. I have mainly based it so far around like three main plots: WIVES OF ON, VAYHURA'S WORLD, and the CANNON STORY. Basically it's like this so far:

WIVES OF ON: Lefsexieta (female warrior human warden. survived), Nyre On (female rouge, pro mage and romanced Isabella), and Lylia On (female elf bow with Nyre as Hawke). I try to be consistant with how each of the women would interact with each other per game if they would and how common their beliefs are.

Vayhura's World: Vayhura (female human mage), Naturma (Vayhura's sister trying to find Vayhura but doesn't), Vyre (Naturma's daughter). I try to emphasize on how they tend to be unstable here and there and make questionable decisions like keeping Logain alive or helping the werewolves sack elves.

CANNON STORY: I would either base it off Goketsu (male human warrior) or Kaetlissa (female human rouge wed Alister) or Moonphase (female human mage killing stuff including innocents), then go with somebody to connect the three like Vullia (female warrior, pro mages) for Goketsu, Kattie (female rouge, pro templars) for Kaetlissa and Lightwind (female mage, less psycho, pro mages) for Moonphase for Da 2. SO far I have completed a Kaetlissa/Kattie route a couple times and finished a Moonphase/Lightwind route. Pretty much I try to be consistant to what I know happened per character and how things should or shouldn't be to what I deem to be my main plot. I really try not to waver except for a few things like making Anora queen if i am not doing a Kaetlissa rules as queen DAO plot.

The only themed world state I ever created in the Keep was one where I did my best to ensure the worst possible outcome. Pretty much every character that can die is dead, except the ones that do more damage by being left alive.

Granted, I've never actually bothered to load that world state up into DAI.

I do actually.

My first world state tends to be a Human or Pro-Chantry themed one.

My second is more Elf or Pro-freedom themed.

My third is mainly about trying out anything interesting that I didn't get to in my first two world states. As such it tends to have the most diverse collection of heroes.

This is a very interesting topic. I wouldn't say I necessarily theme my world states or have an over-arching similar opinion that's chosen by all the protagonists, however I will admit I try to keep a similar tone. By this I mean I try to keep things fairly similar but with personalized changes to work with certain character's backgrounds and such. It would be slightly boring and unrealistic to assume everybody had the same opinion therefore not all my protagonists see things the same way, however as would an author I try to keep as loyal to the ideologies present in previous games and such as realisically tight as possible. Even if I were to finally make a mage in DA4 (which so far seems very likely) they definitely won't be pro-mage as it wouldn't really suit the ideologies I've presented before, however it'd be good to showcase someone who does have magic abilities yet wishes to accomplish what they do as orderly as possible. It might sound silly but I like to imagine myself as telling a story, and using what I would assume fans of said story would agree with yet remains consistent with character's personalities.
