I bought this game around christmas, GOTY for full price, and I feel so ripped off. ugh. bad move on my part, its up there with buying sacred 3 and all the DLC before I even tried the game lol.

Jump is stupid

and I'll just copy and paste something I read somewhere, in which I whole heartedly agree with.

"I know it seems odd that in a RPG there is “too much to do” but in DA: I there is. This is the problem with all these quests. None of them actually feel too relevant. I understand closing the rifts, or helping refugees so you can recruit agents to the Inquisition, because those directly change the way your Inquisition acts. What doesn’t matter, is finding a farmer’s cattle or doing horse races. Why do I need to collect all of these mosaics? Why do I need to collect these different kinds of thrones? Do I really need to resurrect this guy from the dead just to kill him again? The game is riddled with filler missions just to give you the impression that the game is longer than it really is. And as such, it creates an unbalanced environment"

this game cant touch DAO + DAO:A hell, it cant even touch DA2

I also read that blood magic wasnt included as a specialization because it would of required the dev team to go back and add in peoples reactions and things, I love being the bad guy, but in this game its really hard for me to ugh, really wish I didnt buy the ps4 digital version, at least then I could sell it. well lesson learned.

when a game feels like your at work, but your not getting paid for your time, lmao, thats what this game feels like. freaking shards in hard to reach places, requiring you to run around the mountain, jump, slide, jumping up the partly collapsed side of a house to see whats in that loot container, oh look, more rubbish. lol.

damn near everyone of your companions are goody goodys (if not every single one)

also every single one of your companions are so fussy as to who they will date, uhm hello, should really be mine the players choice.

stood no chance with sera the only character I was even slightly interested in, in a LI kind of way. yep no chance as a man, and oh, im a mage too, lol.

when you press the search button, it shows things it really doesnt need to show, like ladders and planted banners.

respawning enemys, and crafting materials. wouldnt be so bad if they respawned upon re-entering a map (was going to say area, but theres so many freaking areas inside a single map)

I spent hours in skyhold once I got there, looking for things, talking to everyone, exploring all the conversations to the fullest. I must be a sucker for punishment. lmao must be as now im currently traveling with dorian trying to get 3 ventari kills, and also the tombs needed to become a rift specialist, god, dont get me started on that, he is equally annoying as that quest is. I could go with another specialization I have all those parts, got them pretty dang easy. but the tombs, ohh god, lmao, it even says a book merchant in val roy w/e the hell sells them, uhhh no, no he does not. I've leveled around twice trying to get these books.

I read somewhere your games are pretty much split down the middle as far as your fans are concerned, half love you, half hate you. well. seems im on the other side the negative side this time around.

I would swap inquisition (PS4) for DA2 GOTY (PS3 yes I have one of those still aswell) could you make that happen? you could have sony delete my rights to it, have it removed from my downloads list / library. I would delete it from my console, and you would know it because I would never be logged in with that game ever again. if you did that, I wouldnt feel AS ripped off, and my feelings would turn back to love. (even tho theres no LI for me in DA2 either lolz)

I'm in the same camp, but I can't tell if it's split down the middle or not. I think since it's BSN, you'll run into far more favorable opinions of it. Good luck

I like the game and find it better than DAO. In fact story wise it is DAI>DA2>DAO. I like all three games. YMMV or to each their reach.

I played around 70 to 80 hours, and yeah no, im still near the start lol. yeah waste of my time. ugh, man so very tedious. if you dont think so then I guess you have so much time on your hands or something.

if its classic then theres a reason for it, and if you read what I said, there is absolutely nobody for me otherwise, not in inquisition, not in DA2, DAO was very limited, but guess what, I actually liked morrigan, and leiliana. in mass effect 1 and 2 there were companions I liked. long gone are those days. and heck is it to much to ask for, why not make all characters available to straight, gay, whatever. dont say it couldnt be done successfully, it would just take a little more time and effort on the devs side thats all. and at least that way, most people are bound to at least like 1 person. like I did sera.

for me im always a male char, thats all im interested in being. if I was playing DAO right now after 70+ hours I'd possibly be done or be somewhere in awakening. and wouldnt feel like I'd wasted my time, I am a serious gamer, I have a ps2 ps3, ps4, xbox original, hundreds of games, been playing games since I was a kid, love RPGS, grew up playing and owning, arcade, nes snes gameboy atari lynx, game gear, n64, master system 1 and 2, megadrive (genesis) 1 and 2, mega cd 1 and 2 lol uhm sega saturn, a friends chinese console wid hundreds of games on it, ameiga 500 an old pc but that too had hundreds of games, uhm my very first console was atari 2600 wow right lol, that thing was crap lol but I still loved it as a kid.

loved bioware before dragon age, back with baulders gate, baulders gate 2 SOA, TOB, neverwinter nights, I wrote to Sony asking that they buy bioware so that they could have exclusive rights. then microsoft bought them, I was gutted, so I bought an xbox and got SWKOTOR, 1 and 2, Jade Empire (I wish there was a part 2) and yeah, never before have I felt so underwhelmed by each skill tree and all the mindless trivial quests, overwhelmed by jumping around looking like an idiot trying to find pretty much everything that I can like I normally do in these types of games. and again all the mindless trivial quests. perhaps I am getting old, hmmm let me think about that..... uhhh no, I still want to go back to all those games I mentioned. I have been meaning to start up another Jade empire, lol, spoiler alert stop reading now, oh man it was so cool, basically had a 3 way in that game, ugh epic, well a 3 way love triangle, I fell for silk fox and dawn star, and yeah, ugh, I wish one of them didnt have to die... guess my influence wasnt quite enough to keep both past that one point, that one decision, to become a god or not. but then im like, imagining afterwards, well im a god, I can bring dawn star back lol. ah great game... good times, and that ladies and gentlemen is what its all about, good times. having fun, else whats the point. the fact is, im not having any fun in Inquisition. and im done talking about it. have fun everyone. :)

I know I said im done but lmao. I just wish I never bought it now. yes, filler quests, bending over every few seconds to pick up loot / herbs / metals, climbing mountains, the hard way, climbing houses the hard way. chasing farm animals. lol. but I dunno 70 may be a bit much, I do leave the game running sometimes so maybe closer to 50, 60 hours, talking to everyone, definitly not reading everything just a couple, in which one led me to run circles around a rock a couple times so a demon would spawn lol. I've done the hinterlands, most of storm coast, the mire, and I believe I already said that in my original post. I do like those star puzzles, they are actually a little fun they actually engage the brain instead of numbing it like damn near everything else does. I ran back and forth in one area for awhile trying to get the ventari to appear so I could get my second tomb, it took me leaving the area (map) and coming back with dorean for their camp to appear. anyways, im just thankful in a way that damn near all other bioware games are pretty much top notch imo, been jumping over annoying tree roots because even the qunari isnt tall enough to step up them lol, I can understand the dwarf having to jump, lmao. anyways im still playing, despite the fact I dont care for it very much. I am still glad they added the qunari as a playable race, tho my qun mages backstory is so weak. yeah, not a real qun. a qun but not a qun, wait what, lol.anyways from now on, not sure if I've already said it, but, im gonna research all the future bioware games in depth before I decide to waste any more money. Bioware was my fav, and now its telltale and quantic dream. heck even the new odd gentlemen group that are currently making the episodic kings quest games, which delightfully features the voice of none other than the legendary doc emmet brown, I mean christoper lloyd from the still epic back to the future series. and yeah, bleh w/e =p

bioware as a company no more . da:inquisition was just like swtor (kofte that is). zero choices actually matter. very limited options to begin with and worse all choices lead to same ending with different 1 liner. luckily I did not buy dlcs.and I am not buying any more da games. they are a ghost of what they used to be.

witcher 3 got various  game of the year awards (incl  overall 2015 game awards) beating really great games like metal gear solid and bloodborne. can not be even compared to da:i

If you played the main story, you would see that one companion uses you for their own gain, one murdered innocent people for cash, and two will betray you (one based on choices, one regardless), and one unintentionally gave the main enemy a way to pump out an army. Not really goody goodys. Nobody told you to run around the Hinterlands collecting plants. The main story with the important side quests can be completed in way under 50h.

Well I had no one to romance in DAO, BG, NWN, and ME 1 and 2. It's time for some gay companions, to at least even out all of the straight companions we get in pretty much every single game out there. Also your favourite moment of a great game like Jade Empire was the threesome? That was the most hamfisted thing in the entire game.

I have no idea what you are trying to prove here. You have consoles. Good for you. I've also owned some consoles. And played the majority of RPGs. As have other people who liked DAI. RPGs have shifted from what we used to get, but it doesn't mean it's worse. There is a new crop of old school RPGs coming out, like Torment: Tides of Numenera and Pillars of Eternity, if you miss that, you can buy that. And nobody is forcing you to do everything in the game. The same goes for Skyrim/Fallout/Witcher, where you can spend a lot of time doing absolutely nothing. DAI has a lot of content that is not a radiant quest and I like that. You didn't have fun, I did.

So you have only yourself to blame? Why would you spend time climbing houses and chasing after animals, and then say this game is wasting your time?

And qunari don't see mages as people, so there's no qunari mages at all. To them, mages are tools, not living beings. You are a Tal-Vashoth, someone who abandoned the qun. You cannot be a follower of the qun regardless of class, because of obvious story reasons. All of this was explained in depth in Dragon Age 2. RPGs have been historically heavy on lore and story, DA follows that.

And you're complaining about RPGs and then give examples of games, which have zero RPG elements? Telltale games are great, but mechanically they are terrible. Quantic Dream also has its problems.

I think the important thing with DAI is to realise that you don't need to do every stupid little thing, collect every herb, etc. I agree that some of the side quests you acquire outside of the HQ can be a little lame, but the thing is that they're all optional. You don't have to help refugees. You don't have to collect herbs. You don't have to collect a single shard or mosaic piece. It's all up to you. You can do the bare minimum and focus on the story and character interaction which, in my opinion at least, is really fun.

At first, I was really frustrated with Hinterlands. The area is just SO HUGE and there are so many tiny assignments just lying about. (Yeah, I would prefer if the time and effort was spent elsewhere in development of this game instead of just trying to fill an area.) The funny thing is, I didn't have to bother because my companions pointed out soon from the start that I had enough influence to go to Val Royeaux. They keep pointing it out from time to time until you go. My getting stuck in the area was my own fault. And the moment I found out the area wasn't going anywhere (Why would it? Jeez.), I got back to the story and everything and loved it. In Hushed Whispers and In Your Heart Shall Burn totally won me over.

Other than the quests being on the MMO side at times and some other minor things concerning gameplay, like the fact I couldn't assign my character's attribute points manually and the fact that some elite/boss enemies are unnecessarily huge damage sponges, I enjoyed the game a great deal. I suppose it's a matter of taste, too.

Personally, I don't think that collectibles like the mosaic pieces or thrones hurt anything, though. Especially the latter allows you to customise your HQ and while it might be unnecessary, it's also kind of cool. (I did like being able to choose a nicer bed, ahem.) There's really no quest marker telling you that you have to collect all the mosaic pieces or furniture, either. The shards are more problematic, I think. (Thankfully, optional. My Trevelyan hasn't collected a single shard yet. He hasn't looked through a single skull, either.)

As for the love interests, for me it was less of "Dragon Age: Inquisition" and more of "Dragon Age: Oh, no, everybody's cute!" I fell for Cassandra, Cullen, Sera, and Dorian immediately. My friend is "fangirling" about Josie already and he hasn't even played the game yet, lol. I think DAI delivered a diverse and loveable cast of characters in general and whether or not they're "goody two shoes" depends on how you look at it. Look at Leliana and how she solves problems. Look at Iron Bull's opinion of mages. Look at Vivienne's opinion of anyone who she feels is beneath her, which is pretty much everyone, possibly including the Inquisitor. Some characters have some seriously dark past. Some of them have nefarious plans. They're colourful. None of them pure white. I wonder how an organisation that is supposed to gain people's trust and save the world would even benefit from evil characters, even if I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad idea, either. As the Inquisitor, you can do or say some pretty cruel and unreasonable things, but it sure doesn't offer you much space for "MUAHAHAHAHAAA, I WILL NOW STAB YOU SEVENTEEN TIMES JUST BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT." Not so sure that's a bad thing, though.

My position is that DAI is pretty good for the first playthrough but on replaying it there's a why continue on sort of thing.  Doing an area again is not fun for me with the possible exception of the Hinterlands and the Western approach which I liked better.  I didn't like crestwood.
