Every Mass Effect game had some sort or routine or formula to how most missions were done. In broad strokes they go something like this:
ME1:
Enter planet, walk around, talk, do side-quest, Mako stretch, combat, aftermath, return to Normandy.
ME2:
Enter mission area, exploration/combat, combat, interlude, railroaded story-segment/combat showdown, talk, mission complete.
ME3:
Talk in shuttle, immediate combat or buildup, combat, cutscene, combat, combat/action segment, cutscene, walk out from War Room. Go. Through. Door. Scanner...
What routine, if you will. do we want in ME:A. We know Mako will be part of it and exploration is a thing. Personally I hope the main quest is not completely segregated from exploration like in DA:I and I also hope I won't spend 60 hours out of 80 driving the mako around mining things.
I'm expecting something where you drive Mako for transport with a good deal of freedom to pick between missions, then arrive at mission. During a mission/quest you typically start either by driving somewhere with the Mako or explore a place on foot, shoot guys, talk to some NPC in out-of-cinema dialogue and then get more action and complete objective for a reward.
I'm hoping it will have that split like ME1 though where some missions are clearly more of a quantity thing but give you more to explore, while the rest is more focused with more obviously designed locations and substantial exposition and context for the quest with character arcs and subplots. DA:I felt very superficial in anything but its critical main path story I felt, even in the good ones like Crestwood's main quest.
