(WARNING: DLC spoilers ahead)
So, people flying off things is fairly common in other games, but in Dragon Age, not so much. However, in my most recent run through, I did a couple of interesting tricks.
- In the fight along the causeway in the Bastions of the Pure, I used Pull of the Abyss to drag some of the Sha-Brytol to the edge and then happened to target one with Stonefist. Imagine my surprise to see him fly off the edge and plummet into the bottomless deeps. That's an animation you don't see very often in DA. I also claim this wins the Loot Throwing Contest for Distance in that his loot appeared at my feet after falling what is supposedly an infinite distance.
- Later on, in the Wellspring, as you are going down the tower toward the guardian, you have two opportunities to attack the Sha-Brytol from above. With an unnecessarily frequent use of Hold Position, you can rain AoE damage on them until they fall over. The Trespasser version of Immolate, with its no cooldown, is good for this, as is Static Cage and Blizzard. However, on the second, lower version of this, some of the Sha-Brytol will start climbing up the ladder to the landing you are on. Well, we can't have that, can we? Wait for one to get halfway up the ladder and then hit them with Veilstrike. Not only do they fall off the ladder, they take huge amounts of damage doing it (over 6,000 in one attack). My eyes nearly bugged out when I saw that.
Happy hunting!
