Yes, I know, the game isn't even out yet, why even think about DLC, don't give EAware ideas to rip us off etc, etc. But I'm curious as to what people think nonetheless.

Bioware has made quite a few epilogue DLCs like ME2's Arrival and DAI's Trespasser (also DAO's Witch Hunt, DAII's Legacy to an extent?), which people haven't always been happy about. Most of these DLC offer pretty story-crucial content and are a bridge to the next game. Also, some of the main games' (non-DLC) endings have been lackluster to some, which left people wondering if they made the endings mediocre on purpose to sell more epilogue DLC just to get a satisfying ending. (Personally, I think that's bs, but I can't deny they probably keep DLC in mind during development of the main game)

So, what do you guys think of epilogue DLC? Would you be happy to pay for the extra content or would you refuse to pay for a conclusion that (you think) should've been in the main game? Do you think BW will continue to make epilogue DLC for Andromeda/other future games?

Epilogue DLC can be a good way to address issues in the vanilla game. For example, the DLC for Dragon Age 2 improved on pretty much every aspect of DA2 and had the polish players expected. But, it can feel like missing content that should have been in the game from the start, like Trespasser for Inquisition. There's a fine line to walk.

If a game can't provide a proper ending on its own, then it's not really a very good game is it? If the developer has to release a DLC to provide the epilogue, then something went wrong.

Arrival was one of the worst DLCs of the ME trilogy btw... complete nonsense story.

I certainly think they shouldn't be afraid to introduce story material via DLC. With the likes of DA Keep replacing saves there's no reason they can't incorporate them into the interactive story going forward. I thought DA2's 2 pieces of story DLC were very good. Trespasser worked in the specific instance of DAI but I think generally though that DLC shouldn't be used as an epilogue.

Epilogue DLCs can be fine.  Just don't make the story dependent on them.

No. If you're gonna make a story-driven game the conclusion should be satisfying and not be wrapped up in dlc or sold in pieces. Sequel baiting is one thing, its another to set up games for the specific purpose of selling dlc.

Agreed, but I can appreciate the fact they're trying to "repair" unsatisfying endings by releasing DLC that adresses the faults. Though they usually charge us money for that, so it's not exactly goodwill either. And I'd prefer if they made a proper ending in the first case, of course.

Yeah I agree whilst I think Trespasser has acted as an added build up to DA4 (in a good way I might add) I don't think the original ending to DAI was bad because for me the main story and everything was resolved unlike ME3's initial ending I think befoer the EC was released. The only questoin mark that for me that was left was what the heck was going on with Solas. Why did he run off and why was he with Flemeth at the end. Those questions even if I hadn't bought the DLC I'd have thought would have been answered in DA4 anyway just like how Hawke and Corypheus knew each other was explained by Hawke when you meet him/her when you get to Skyhold.

That scene was a "stinger".  Like what Marvel does with their movies to draw you into seeing future movies.

Like Captain America, Falcon, and Winter Soldier appearing at the end of Ant-Man.  Or Thanos at the end of the Avengers movies.

So long as the game plays fine without it. Not playing arrival doesn't feel like a big loss to me when I'm playing the main game so something like that would be fine.

Epilogue DLC; Avoid it if possible, but certainly do if the vanilla game left something to be desired.

Yeah it was I'm just glad that because I have Trespasser I know why and kind of what happened there. Still looking forward to seeing what it means for DA4 though.

DA:I clearly took a lesson from Asura's Wrath's DLC practices and that is good, because Asura's Wrath is one of the best games ever made.

So ME:A should also follow in it's footsteps.

Epilogue DLC should be like a cherry on top. Non-essential, and the cake is still complete and tasty without it.

Food analogies aside, epilogue DLC shouldn't be the ending to the base game. The ending to the base game should be a complete one whilst the epilogue DLC is a little bit extra. Citadel handled this well for example. Can't say about Trespasser since I'm not a Dragon Age fan.
