When Cassandra Pentaghast professes her faith in the maker do you actually believe her?

Is there anything about DAI that would lead someone to believe so strongly in a Maker?

It almost looks as if Cassandra is mocking when she declares her faith.

I feel like asking Cassandra why she believes what she does when there is no reward for her faith.

She has accompanied the player into the fade where spirits go when they die...and found no paradise, no heaven. When you die you will be floating around the fade with demons until your essense dissipates

She Knows the Seekers and the Chantry hide terrible falsehoods

The Maker is completely absent in the world. (in fact the developers go out of their way to counter any suggestion of The Maker's influence)

So why is Cassandra or anyone in Thedas even talking about the Maker? It makes no sense

Bioware has so undermined the concept of The Maker that it is better they just do away with it.

The way the Maker is currently implemented is really bad

Don't worry, I won't give any points to myself. It just seemed like an accurate guess as to what was coming, more or less.

Yes, I believe she has faith.

There is no hard evidence of RL deities at work in the world either, but people believe in them.

Chantry theology doesn't say that the Fade should be paradise. Paradise comes when you leave the fade.

So... You believe all the people in real life are mocking themselves when they believe in religion?

Why people believe is christian in 2016?

How can you believe in a giant old man with magical powers who live in the sky?

The church only spreads hate, the reverends are pedophile, they believe in a god who says "if you dont love me you are going to the hell".

The same happens in Dragon age, when people can't found a logical solution they are happy with a stupid answer.

---

Is strange you didn't mentioned how there can be mages andrastian when this religion is who keep them as prisoners in a tower, or how the chantry is hembrist and try to control everyone.

I believe her. The chantry has built an entire theology around the Maker's absense. This is where faith comes in. The potential for doubt makes faith meaningful. Personally, I prefer it this way. It's not unlike our own world, and that makes the setting and its characters relatable.

You know, you could ask the same question a religious person in real life. "What has your god ever done for you? What proof of their existence do you have?" And yet people believe. I'm sure Cassandra has her own reasons to believe. And I don't have a doubt she believes just as strongly as she appears to.

Not to even mention that everybody knows of the Fade and spirits. That's nothing new. That's never stopped Andrastians before. It's not like she's been to the Golden City or something.

Mother Giselle keeps on believing even if you tell her what Corypheus said. That the "throne in the heavens", whatever it is, was empty. She has her own explanation for it. It didn't seem to shake her faith.

Not to even mention that Cassandra seems to quite firmly believe that the Inquisitor was sent by the Maker. That she/he is the Maker's chosen.

Well, if she have her own reason she is pretty hypocrite because if you take her to the temple of Mythal she says "how elves can believe in this nonsense?"

This thread is being closed because it quickly derailed into real world religious discussion.
