i didn't even pick up on the misunderstanding. i just thought that person turned all venomous because they didn't like me saying "bullshit" in their thread yesterday.

Well this was a weird thread to come into after being away from here for a while. Amusing though 7/10.
On topicish, would not be opposed to the idea assuming the player character doesn't talk all creepy like they slipped their superior a roofie or something.
Quite sad I don't have some really weird family story related to the topic though I usually have a fist full of those lying around just always forget to use them half the time ![]()

That would all fit into "Human Resources BS".
Don't get me wrong, everything you say is correct. In real life all of this applies to the workplace, however as previously stated, this is a game. The goal is to have fun, and be a form of escapism. There is no need for HR BS.
Not to mention that if BW was going for a half-way serious/realistic scenario then they'd have the military gender segregated. Like most JRPGs, BW's games aren't meant to be taken too seriously(or rather, shouldn't be).

Better idea: how about romances are just out of the chain of command, period?
I might agree. But I do like the idea that two soldiers take the risk to be together, fall in love despite the rules and the chain of command. Bioware just needs to work the drama, conflicting feelings, and the consequences around it. It didn't happen in the previous Mass effect to be honest. It would be more interesting.

I'm down. Be a little different, but hey, different is good. It will be interesting to see how that would be implemented in the Andromeda situation.

Well, he does, and he doesn't. Shepard's Spectre status puts her in a higher tier in the galactic community than Kaidan's position in the Alliance does. Besides, Shepard is charged with command of the ship, so what she says goes anyhow.
Bioware probably just forgot their crazy typo ranks they created when they named him a Major in ME3. Especially given the fact that there was a proliferation of characters with ranks that don't appear in the made up Alliance ranks from the ME1 codex.

Specialist Traynor being the most notable example. There is no Specialist rank listed in that ME1 codex entry.
It was also a bit confusing as to whether Traynor was enlisted or an officer. Specialist is an enlisted rank in the real world, but Shepard tells Traynor she's a good officer at one point.
More attention to detail from the Andromeda devs would be nice. All it takes is about 2 minutes of searching on Google.

I thought it far more egregious that Specialist Traynor actually seemed to be a hard worker. Completely unrealistic. She needs to learn how to use that sham shield properly.

Well, the restrooms are seperate... ![]()
I could point out the truly awful design of both Normandys (like no cabin for anyone except Miranda/Liara) but otherwise this looks precisely like most militaries I know. Gender segregation... hah. What year is this?
