I brought this up in the long long ago in DA:O, but there wasn't really much to work with. After all you have heard in dialog, read in the codex's, and seen as events unfolded, Was Andraste really the bride of the maker, that of everyone that had lived prior and/or since she is the only one to catch the maker's eye? Was she a mage that spun an incredible tale to explain how she did what she did as being divine intervention instead of magic? Or was she a mad woman leading a cult who was just crazy enough to be the first to drink and use Lyrium as the Templars do in a desperate attempt to change the world? Or something else entirely?

Considering the lore to-date and how the Inquisitor's legend shapes up, My personal belief is the third. The templar talents had to come from somewhere. A lyrium addled mind would explain the "voice of the maker" and crying fits as well. "The bride of the maker" has always been just too incredible for me.

Your thoughts?

There is a difference between what Andraste herself may have believed and what actually happened.    From what I have read in World of Thedas 2, it would seem she had a very traumatic experience in her childhood, that resulted in the horrible death of her half sister, and after that she started having "visions".    If she was also a mage that would have added to the strain on her mind but she could just have been a deluded (mentally ill) non mage, who just seemed very convincing to those around her.   Likely she was in contact with some sort of spiritual being in the Fade and this was responsible for her insights but given how most of what she claims to have been shown has now been disproved by subsequent events, I think the Bride of the Maker was all in her mind.

Apparently historians in Thedas now concede that Maferath was probably very wise to cut a deal with Hessarian because he quite correctly surmised that she was leading his army to destruction.   However, this wasn't when she was within sight of Minrathous because she never got anywhere near it.   The current site of the Valarian Fields must have been identified years after the event because the decisive battle took place far to the south, near her stronghold in Nevarra and it was from here that she was captured and taken north.

Was Jesus the real son of god?

She probably were a crazy woman, like Leliana, or maybe even she didn't existed and was created as an example of what a woman can do.

She didn't probe to have any special power, specially when she was going to be burned.

The ashes of Andraste was proven to be lyrium dust in DA:I

I never did my character an Andrastian, I feel like they missed a lot of opportunity in Dragon Age, specially with the religion, were is the discrimination, rape, etc?, the discrimination is pretty poorly done, only woman in the power, man only to be templars, not elves, dwarves or quanaris are allowed, nothing special.

Is like they make the game with a children censure.
