So far i've only read topics that had discussed the alien races, flora and fauna of  Andromeda galaxy, but nothing on alien sicknesses. Mind you Mordin's dialogue in ME2 had indicated that humans were able to contract alien diseases. I wonder if the writers remembered this aspect of exploring an uncharted galaxy, and if it will be mentioned or play any part in MEA's story?

I swear i've seen this happen in a cartoon once. Though it would suck if we're the ones who are given the War of The Worlds treatment.

Scientifically speaking, the odds of an alien disease having any effect would be...remote.  Given they did not evolve alongside us.

But then aside from levo/dextro proteins, genetic compatibility is not something sweated much by the Mass Effect setting.

Chasing a doomsday virus infected space monkey all aound the ARK could be a thing.

They might use it as some kind of debuf or minor story element but I just don't see them putting it anywhere important.

And as the last being in all of civilization gasped out his last breath he was heard to say  'Damn, we shouldn't have prescribed so many antibiotics.'

Have to keep in mind they need to balance world/universe creation with gameplay.  Would take a lot of fun out of the game if we need to be constantly injecting ourselves with antibiotics.  Plus it would get people really annoyed if they spend about an hour or so in the character creator then are forced into an environmental suit for the rest of the game.

I doubt it'll be that tedious. If ithe subject is brought up it wouldn't surprise me if the issue is handwaved away by a single application of Medi-gel.

I want the cold to be a debuff that makes your everything 50% weaker, as a male character it would be 80% weaker instead ... HA

Nah, i remember a study about how illnesses seem to affect men more than women because of how we delay/avoid seeking treatment until we're severely affected.

I must be one of the few guys in the world who gets very weak colds.

My nose turns into a waterfall and I get slightly weaker, but it doesn't keep me in bed for days like it does on most. :P

I can see this both being handwaved and a side quest, a doctor gives us a bit of tech babble about the antibody patch/injection/sub dermal mod/whatever is working fine except in the case of one species.

"Pathfinder I know you're busy saving us from doom but please scan 25 aliens while I stand here doing nothing."
