I have almost 300 games so far and I must say that in most cases, PUGs are good. They do objectives, they revive, or at least try (sometimes they get to late and you need to use a gel to avoid a head stomp).
Of course, I've encountered the bad ones too. But overall, I've had good experience with PUGs.

Relevant:

It's mostly the cranial arthritis and lack of sense of direction that causes PUGs to play the way they do. It's congenital, so not really their fault.

With 2800+ games behind me in MP, id say that a good pug is usually any game where the host is not a clueless moron, with a horrible internet connection, hosting from a turd grade laptop with 2 cans and a string for wifi crippling everyone joining the game.
And dont start out with the avenger on any char when you start from scratch, go for 200% rechargespeed and rock those comboclasses, you can easily outperform 95% of pugs with chars like human adept or sentinel, or the enginer, without firing a single shot trough the entire match.
Edit: With that said, most players i encounter i dont think plays that bad, there are afew warningsigns that usually make me ditch a lobby,
like the presence of smashdepts or smashguards,
power dependant classes with absurd heavy weapons equipped
and that person that do things like equipping an assault rifle with a SMG amp...
You just know how that match is gonna be.

Imo, that's all a bit harsh. I'd never keep a pug, but I've seen them and they are just as affectionate as other breeds. Poor beasts.

I agree, pugs may not be the brightest, the strongest, or the fastest but the are certainly fun to have around.
I would like to trick a pug into signing a contract on Illium so i can keep it.
