I hope we can break up with LIs in ME:A

I hated how ME3 locked your love interest as soon as you comitted. I could accept it for being the final chapter, but it felt unrealistic to me. Shepard is part character and part an extension of the player: that's why we have choices and customizability and that's why we play as him/her, so it felt weird to me, not being able to go to my love interest and say "hey, I break up with you." In ME2 you could.

I don't know if there was a fear of controversy of the game being a sex-simulator because in ME2 you could have a romance at the end game and then break up to try another one immediately. Pretty silly stuff, but honestly I hope there is more of a romance system in ME:A than there was in ME3 or ME1.

What if you could have a one-night stand with someone, like James in the Citadel DLC? It would be awesome just being able to screw around but naturally there should be some kind of punishment for never being serious about love, like in Witcher 3 if you try to get both girls.

Never.

If you try to break it off you should wake up one night and turn the light on.

And they're sitting there watching you.

Seriously though if we can bang everything like in DA:I it might take something away from the point of romance in ME.

It'd be funny if one of the LI's was cheating on you the entire time, and you can only find out if you break up.

That would go down well.

No, seriously, I want this. Anything to break the formula at this point. It could also be one where the LI breaks up right after sex because it was terrible lol.

Oh I'm certain. EA could power its servers on the heat generated by the fan rage.

Or maybe your superior keeps sending you on total suicide missions because they are the one your LI is cheating on you with...

I might have mentioned it before, but what about an actual femme fatale? Someone who seduces you, uses you and then betrays you? You can either be the naive fool who hopes to redeem her (Paragon) or play along to betray her first (Renegade). Talk about an explosive breakup, eh? :D

Especially if the LI is Asari.

They can't really work it into the plot as long as the protaganist could be a hetero female or gay male, so how would they "betray" you if they can't seduce you in the first place?

I don't get it

They are the most popular due to the majority of the game's fanbase being hetero males (as with most shooters) to the point where ME games are essentially expected to have a romanceable asari as part of the formula, so the gross amount of rage would probably be highest.

Of course, the Miri and Tali fanbases were just as if not louder on this forum despite being less popular options in terms of gross numbers (the former actually were the ones whose concentrated nerdrage was most responsible for getting the entire ME3 character section nuked for years and the antics of the latter's rabid fanbois need no description), so I'm not sure it'd have a huge effect.

The Asari are......'special' round these parts. To have one brutally throw you away like yesterdays breakfast. Well......that would be something.

Then comes the pheromones and space parasite debates, penetrative sex debates and who could forget wanting the entire species to be purged from everywhere.

That was always a good one.

Now with broken hearted nerd rage unleashed to fuel a never ending fire.

I think there was an option of breaking up in ME2 as long as you did it before the collector base? I know you could do it but there was a cutoff point somewhere and I am not sure where exactly.

Breaking up with Jack was scary. Her refusal to talk to you afterwards was hilarious.

If we get the option to breakup with LIs, it'd be nice if it actually worked this time... I (supposedly....) broke up with Liara in LotSB but Shep still acted like they were in a romance on Mars.

awkward.

oh and +1 to the LI who uses you, especially if she's asari... just for the glorious nerd tears

Sounds like a good Sith relationship, Bioware sort of pulled it off with Jaesa in SWTOR so they can in theory actually do a very dark, very mature romance that is made up of physical gratification with deeper emotional connection and context a distant second priority. They can do relationships were 'love' is just a word and both parties are only interested in what the other can do for them, where explosive tempers can result in violence and jealousy is acted upon with rage.

.-.

Course...That would ruin what most folks want in a Mass Effect relationship, people want the good feels not a animistic, skin deep affair that lasts only so long as one party is useful to the other, and then is immediately cast aside with little to no remorse. It would be a kick in the teeth to folks want that, and Bioware sort of has a bad recent track record with trying unorthodox romances anyway recently. So ultimately while I can appreciate it, I doubt many would.

God no, that was them trying and failing to have a compelling romance that is made up of more then 'luv'.

My FemShep was anti-romance and only flirted with Kelly so someone would feed her fish. It wasn't until Samantha Traynor came around that she finally fell in love. Still, for some scenes Liara appeared, because Traynor can't fight. Not that I needed rescuing in the first place or anything.
