Well like I said in another thread, the Race option alone would be nice and I wouldn't care if it is basically just for looks. Not to mention there would be too much work they would need to do to make dialogue get affected by our race option. Race Option is so we can all be different snowflakes and purely aethestics to a certain degree. We seen this happen with DAO and DAI, the only time races matter in DAI was The Winter Palace that shows us Bioware thinks all humans are racist. But the option alone to have the ability to pick a race and customize that character is all that Bioware really needs to do when giving us the race option in any game. Otherwise we are asking a bit too much when we want the AI to respond to our race pick, most they could do is small tidbits. Maybe have some races get a discount as others get the prices jacked up because the shopkeeper is racist lol. But we can't ask for alot if we want them to give us race option and we want to get out of the human only cocoon.
Honestly we have no one but ourselves to blame for why its human only because DAI they cave in again and look what we did with that, we spit on them because it wasn't perfect.
I didn't spit on them - I just called them out and after 2 failed (failed in the sense that they were worse than what we were used to!) games (before DA:I) I think it was/is the right thing to do (I mean it's not like they were never able to make really great games, Mass Effect 1/2 and Dragon Age: Origins aren't games from 20 years ago or something, they just stopped doing so IMHO and that's kind of sad (and worse: It coincided with EA buying Bioware - and it's not the first time EA ruined a studio/franchise they bought: Remember WESTWOOD and Command and Conquer? I do and it still pisses me off...I mean, I am not a business leader/manager but I am sure that I would NOT have ruined Westwood if I had owned it, hell I'd probably still make good RTS, maybe even in a new universe (can't keep on making Command and Conquer sequels all the time after all)))
I also played both DA:O and DA:I with another race at least once (I finished DA:O with every race and with - almost - every origin-story (didn't finish the outcast dwarf and the Dalish runs!))...beat DA:I twice (once with a human and once with an elf), so don't just blame everybody (generalizations are shitty in most cases!)
greetings LAX
ps: Human protagonist makes sense in that you don't have to especially craft a new set of NPCs for certain positions (for all humans the "mentor" (kind of) is Anderson...now it would be strange for an Asari to have a human mentor - unless Anderson is involved with one for example...and even less likely for say a Quarian or a Geth!) and because it offers some more background (you'd have to further develop the races to allow for something similar if you played as an alien - I'D STILL JUMP AT THE CHANCE OF COURSE!)
