Why? We're explorers. Want to see different areas.

Who? Humans and some aliens

What? Build colonies. Humans will be in charge. As it should be. Fight bad guys. Discover some ancient artifacts. Defeat bad guys. The end.

Please no, don't want humans as special snowflakes with other races treated like zoo animals brought along for the ride.

Why are we going to Andromeda?

Why not?

Who are we bringing?

Some people - including at least one Krogan.

What will we do when we get there?

Murder 50% of the sentient aliens and shag the other 50% - it is a Mass Effect game after all.

No clue but my hopes

- We are going there as a last ditch contingency from the reapers.

-Ideally it will be council based with many but not all the species from Milky Way

-Assume we’ll be colonising

Assumptions i'm making

No reapers there

Maybe an AI managing the ark life support whilst the majority of crew/colonists are in cryo, remaining managing the ark habitat once we arrive in Andromeda .

Pathfinder Forces of the 4 council races including human N7, technically under the authority of a council like colonisation committee, that is supposed to manage the colonisation effort but in reality there’s a lot of frontier do what they want mentality amongst the actual colonies.

Plot involving conflict with the indiginous remnant.

I think you are pretty close on all points. I just hope the when, how and why we are going there is written well and doesn't destroy the lore already established.

No easy task.

I worry alot of bad parallels with the original series will be present.

Like,

Ryder being Shep 2.0

Some obscenely powerful and old alien race who wants to wipe out/enslave everyone

A special, one of a kind ship

Squadmates who are shadow selves of Shep's crew - IE, cyborg/robot, turian hotshot bro, mouthy human woman, krogan brute, ect.

Just to name a couple. I really hope I'm wrong and it's all fresh and new, but...

Plot speculation has already been promoted in several other threads. Not sure why this one is needed. Can OP clarify why this thread is different from the others?

meta reason: BioWare is too cowardly/incompetent to try and salvage the setting so they are pressing the reset button hard and fast

That was my first idea back then as well ... but now I think Andromeda was always the plan to follow the trilogy, and does not have much to do with the ending's backlash. Just think of the trilogy'S original intention: A mult-part-storyline that acknowledges all choices and leads to multiple different endings! Yeah, well, we now know how that played out ^^

But think: If Bioware had pulled it through, with stuff like the Rachni-Queen in ME1 really paying off in ME3 (like a giant army of insectoids stopping the Reapers), than any continuation in this Galaxy without retconning or "canonizing" something was impossible. So instead leave the galaxy and start afresh...

I only just began to interest myself again in Mass Effect and Andromeda, so do now know all details revealed by now. I guess the Milky-Way species left either because what happened after ME3 (green bullshte, blue garbage, red nonsense etc), or generation-ships/archs left BEFORE the REapers came, as a backup-plan to save the species?

I hope its the second case, then nobody will have any information about red/blue/green or THE SHEPARD. Might make the game acceptable to play for me ^^

Q. Would you like to have a few plot elements that are left open/unresolved? The ending leaves you with a cliff hanger?

For example, you fight the boss battle at the end, and the archenemy escapes?

I think I would like to see this.

What's the big fuss about MEA? It's MASS EFFECT. You liked the first three as well as all the other bioware games. And don't you dare give me that ending bull$#¡t. What the real reason?

Those open plot threads are why I love Dragon Age so much.It creates so much speculation and so many wonderful theories.

I'd love it if we were just adventurers/explorers tooling around this new galaxy making friends and enemies while we solve other people's problems. The typical "looming threat" that drives most BioWare plotlines has gotten stale. One of DA2's redeeming features was the sort of unstructured conflicts that arose of just living and doing things. Each act in Hawke's story was driven by a different conflict, but it still all tied together.

This would be nice. Too bad we're saviors fighting for the survival of earth. Would have been nice to play a Scholar who can kick butt, rather then a jar head with a jesus trope.

I happen to speak butthurt so let me translate this.

"Because I'm a nerd I'm afraid of change. It terrifies me and I peed a little over the thought of things not being comfortable and familiar."

Nerds sure do love to complain about companies playing it too safe and putting out the same things over and over, but as soon as things change the sky is falling.

You make it sound like this is a new IP or something. They're still milking the brand with Andromeda, same as if they had stayed in the Milky Way.

"Shag" is a word that is no longer commonly used, but should be. I support its return. Also, only tangentially related, but I support the use of "banging" as an adjective. As in, "she looks banging".

Why dont people talk this way anymore? They should.

I just realized that both the carpet and the British slang have the same etymology. Suddenly, things are a lot more clear to me on the origin of that word...

We already know the plot from what has been confirmed so far.  The milky way is screwed....we need a new home, so we invade an entirely new galaxy...then begin to systematically wipe out all of the indigenous life on all of the planets to claim them as our own......but remember.....in this situation...we are the good guys.

I forgot that BioWare confirmed MEA is to be a genocide simulator.

Many patterns repeat ...

We get to Andromeda and discover that it had become the galactic dumping ground for species fleeing the Reaper invasion of the Milky Way. Most of the intelligent species who were harvested and preserved in Reaper form attempted to flee to Andromeda. Some made it; some didn't. There was no Cycle to keep inorganics and organics from warring, and we find out that Starbrat was mostly wrong. But we also find ourselves in the middle of the descendants of all those previous refugees.

Almost no one is actually native to Andromeda itself.

The Ark gets to Andromeda and the slowly enters its first destination - an obscure system only known as Sigma 73a.

Unfortunately that also happened to be the current location of the Al'zkthp 'Vengeance' Class Cruiser who, after picking up the presence of an unknown and potentially hostile ship which did not answer its hails using the well known 3218ghz tight beam response band (the galatic standard), engaged the unknown ship under the standard Empire Rules of Engagement and annihilated the vessel with a single barrage of its forward desolator cannon.
