I happen to speak butthurt so let me translate this.

"Because I'm a nerd I'm afraid of change. It terrifies me and I peed a little over the thought of things not being comfortable and familiar."

Nerds sure do love to complain about companies playing it too safe and putting out the same things over and over, but as soon as things change the sky is falling.

I know there isn't much to go on but maybe some of you could shed some light on some of my unknowns.
Some Questions I have;
Why are we going to Andromeda?
Who are we bringing?
What will we do when we get there?

Some assumptions;
Reapers
Mainly human crew, an AI, a few aliens
Find a planet to colonize then begin making good relations with the inhabitants of Andromeda

I'm really hoping that they just don't have another "Citadel" with a council where we try to prove our value, find and expose a traitor, then become the hero race only to find out about an even greater threat.

I hope that we get something new. What do you think will be the plot of ME:A?

Why?  Reasons

Who?  You would not know them, and there is no time to explain

What will we do?  Shoot stuff, make "big choices" that are ultimately meaningless.

The ark goes into the universe of star wars where it's actually a crossover game between the old republic and Mass Effect.

Only if the second installment brings in Cylons and BSG and the third one bumps into Federation Space.

The colonists are exploring, looking for worlds to colonize for each of the major species, while also discovering Remnant tech and unraveling who they were. They think the Remnant are benevolent for some reason. My guess is the ark ship was constructed by the Remnant, and the MW colonists interpret this as Andromeda giving a helping hand to escape the Reapers.

At some point, they realize they were horribly wrong and (predictable plot twist), the Remnant have their own plans and it was actually a trap. They may even discover that the Remnant have brought other species to Andromeda in the past, like the Protheans or Inusannon, which would be a convenient way to reintroduce such species into the lore and narrative.

It's an interesting theory (the Remnant instigating the ARK project).

Willing to bet a lot of money that getting our foot in the Andromedan community's door will involve:

  • Allying with one or more benevolent underdog races against a more malevolent and supremely powerful foe (Khet?).
    • This will mean that the player gets to fight for a 'righteous cause' (the underdog race might have been annihilated had we not shown up).

    • Despite the fact that we'll still be massacring an indigenous species (and potentially stealing their territory), Bioware will allay players' white/colonial guilt by having us save another, more sympathetic species from subjugation or extinction.

    • High probability of both the Humans (or Milky Wayers) are Warriors and Diplomats tropes coming into play.

    • And of course, the Khet's motivations might be more convoluted than they first appear.
      • Perhaps, like ME1's Geth, they're operating on orders from a higher, mysterious power that will become more prominent in future titles. As Kabooooom said, possibly Remnant; there must be a reason they're named that after all.  ^_^

      • Bioware might even throw in a twist, such as the Khet having an ulterior (maybe even reasonable) motive for their aggression.

  • Exploring solar systems to find habitable planets for each participating Milky Way race (maybe even deciding whether to conquer or barter for claimed/occupied ones).
    OR
Protecting and expanding previously-established colonies from Khet retaliation.
    • The leak about a Krogan colony ship makes me think it'll be the former, although it might have referred to a ship that departed a Krogan colony.

    • The Remnant will have engineered some intragalactic fast-transit system analogous to the relays in the original trilogy.

    • There'll also be technological incentives, such as finding Remnant tech to help defeat the Khet (or whoever).

I feel like this is most likely.

I really would like to play intergalactic invaders though. I know some people get all uncomfortable at just the mere thought of it but, it's just a game! I think it could be alot of fun to play the bad guy for a change if handled well.

Ryder could be the ME version of Revan. You gotta admit, that would be awesome.

Plot will probably be as similar to ME1 as Star Wars Episode 7 is to Episode 4.  Which I would be okay with that to be honest.  Just don't have it be about the Reapers.

Personally?

The Council makes a contingency plan for if the Reapers win in the MilkyWay. They send two of every species to Andromeda (it's called an Ark after all :P) to ensure the survival of organic life. They probably use cryostasis or something to make sure they get there. Upon arriving, the members of the ark look for a planet to colonize. This means the other races in Andromeda fall out with them, but there's a greater threat (another race, maybe the Leviathans?) which basically want to screw everything up and you have to convince the races in Andromeda to help yo despite their dislike because it could mean certain doom otherwise.

In my mind, ME:A will be:

Synthesize Ending: We won, organics and synthetics are now one united citizen of Milky Way. As our old problems eradicated, new problems emerged. People are growing, and fast. Post-war baby boom increase the population of the galaxy up to 500% and it's keep increasing as no one really died out, and finally after a few century, all planet in Milky Way is cataloged and colonized. No more room to expand. This sparks the idea of expanding to the nearest Galaxy that we never know before, Andromeda. So all bright minds and resources were gathered to create an exploration ship, twice the size of the Citadel. Then we selected the best people from across the Galaxy for the mission to seek new place to settle. After everything is ready, they activate the Citadel Relay, sending the ship halfway across into the Andromeda. And that's why we see the ship on N7 Day trailer heading towards the Andromeda, halfway already, because the Reapers create a network to the dark space in between the Galaxies. (The Goals is to expand)

Destroy Ending: As the reaper advanced, we don't have any choice but to escape. There are many people who've lose their hopes and propose an Idea about escaping to the Andromeda galaxy. In between creating the Crucible, people were also creating an ark to escape the Reapers, so if the reaper did overwhelm the Galaxy, our races won't be eradicated and we hoped one day that they will come back home. The Ark is a top-secret project that only a handful of people know it. The communication is severed after the Crucible fires, cutting all connections with the Ark, that they don't have any updates about the circumstances that they keep going to the Andromeda. (The Goals is to survive)

Control Ending: As the reaper threat eradicated, and now they're even helping us, we could achieve a lot of thing in just a short time. That make us curious about what is in Andromeda, and with the help of the Reapers, we could build a scout ship that carries large populations in order to establish connection with Andromeda. The Reaper construct a relay halfway towards the galaxy and we will go ahead and see if there's any advanced civilization that we could establish contact with, while the reaper will keep constructing connection from Milky Way to Andromeda. (The Goals is to connect)

That's what I think should've happened. It's just a mere theory written in bad English. Just let's hope that there won't be any shitty unbeatable enemies like the Reapers.

^ If they were gonna allow such divergence in the endings to affect Andromeda, then there would be no reason to leave the MW in the first place.

It's clear - the real reason they are going to Andromeda is because Bioware wants to run far away from the endings of ME3.

What I dislike here the most is how they buckled down and all employees towed the line back then.

But when it's convenient, they change. And they'll buckle down for the opposite thing eventually. Or whatever is the more profitable thing to do.

They're a business, and part of a publicly traded corporation. What are they supposed to do? Damage themselves so you might think they're cooler?

They wouldn't damage themselves if they had simply moved on from Mass Effect. Any game idea had as much of a chance as this new one. It's not like they had to hedge all their bets on this franchise... or else!

I appreciate that they had some pride in what they did with ME3. I'd just prefer they stuck with it. But this is assuming they're running away from the endings. If they're not, good.

Are you really going to get on my case because I want them to like their own games? That's fandom taken to a new level of absurdity. :D

I can never tell actually. All of your posts are a little interrogative. It's not a bad thing necessarily. You forced me to make a lengthy response.

Needless to say, I think they're capable of many ideas. I don't think they'd lose much by standing behind ME3 and just moving on. But whatever. It's done.

Karpyshyn was working on it right? It will probably involve going to an isolated planet to discover an ancient and powerful holocron. Then Ryder gets crabs all over his body.

I hope it is NOT this troubling scenario:

Since Andromeda is 2 Billion years older than the Milky Way (10 vs 8). I hope it is not a scenario of ALL worlds that can be colonized already being occupied and a council of indigenous races to the Andromeda (maybe even including the progenitors to the Leviathans ....some of which maybe even more powerful than those iddiot Milky Way Leviathans) have decided that their species need to expand and in need of the planets (in their eyes) inhabited by weaker and pathetic civilizations. They do not want these civilizations to know it is them and as such devise a plan to erriadicate these not so advanced native civilizations of Andromeda and take their planets. So in secret this council creates the Khek who they then release on these native populations and watch as they destroy these civilizations to make room for "their" greater and more deserving council races.............

Then the Milky Way ARC travelers arrive and as we Milky Wayers do mess up their plans.

...... JUST NO PLS NO!!!!.....

I will take one positive out of this very negitative theory and hope that the Levianthans did indeed come from the Andromeda galaxy and are at least a tad better than their Milky Way counterparts.

.... That and sigh in my wish that they had make the keepers behind everything including the Reapers.

Off-topic:

Futhermore has the information been released yet on who built the ARC?

meta reason: BioWare is too cowardly/incompetent to try and salvage the setting so they are pressing the reset button hard and fast

Ahh poor baby.

Bioware made a choice to expand the franchise because the Milky Way was already too crowded for various reasons. I see no way to make a 4th game in the MW interesting, or even anything beyond a money grab based on the ME name. I'm not saying they didn't make mistakes, but I am glad they have to guts to change the franchise's setting rather than taking the easy route of just cannonizing an ending or skipping 4k years in the future and having everything be homogenized.

Really? Not a single way to make a game in the MW - with all its established history, lore and places - interesting? Not one?

And yet you don't think Andromeda is a money grab?

Blimey.
