Maybe DA:4 will have a better story line without several WTH moments that was seen in all three DA games.. I been playing RPGs since Final Fantasy 1 and still can't get over the WTH moments and story line flubs.

Don't misunderstand I like DA:O and DA:I enough that they are in my top five favorite RPGs.

The downside is DA:4 will be a make or break the series for me..If its as bad as DA:2 or full of  WTH moments and story line flubs that will be my last DA game.

(...) given that we're talking about the man whose last major characters for BioWare were Cassandra and Dorian.

That we know of. He worked on the new IP long enough that I expect his characters (and pieces of the narrative) will be in the final game, whenever it releases.

I expect they had him working on narrative and lore more than character writing, since that seems to be what he's best at going by his Dragon Age contributions.

Not just best... I think he's simply happy that way. He didn't seem to like the responsibility of having the whole world on his shoulders...or talking about it. lol

He had written Morrigan, Flemeth, Cassandra, Meredith, and Dorian, so I disagree about characters not being, what he's best at. Either of our opinions are just that - opinions. He was a lore, character, and narrative writer for DA, and I expect him to have worked in the same capacity on the new IP.

I seem to have misunderstood Heimdall, but I agree.. He's good at characters and smaller stories (and/or character stories). His whole behavior with lore tells me he didn't even like it. Or that it's too much responsibility. He wasn't nearly as enthusiastic it seemed.

And if Beamdog sticks with D&D, he could easily just focus on stories and characters. Fat chance they'd create an entirely new campaign....nor would I want one.

He's been working on the lore of DA for 11 years, so it's understandable he didn't feel as passionate about it towards the end. Even if you love your job, over a decade of doing more or less the same was probably just too much. It makes sense he got a different position at Beamdog.

Especially when you have to deal with many external factors. I suppose that to be a writer for games is not the same thing as to be a novelist because you have often to change your plans and perhaps you are not free to write the story as you planned or even worse as you wanted. Technical constraints and budget limitations, impositions from the publisher, sometimes even political/marketing decisions... Eleven years is not a very long period of time for a writer, but in this business it's surely enough to send your original project into a way which is so different from your first and ideal one that you may end up losing all of your passion towards it.
