Goodbye, David. :( I'll miss you and I wish you luck.

I'll especially miss your lambasting of annoying trolls here on the forums, your snark was epic and your arguments sound.

This news made my day!

Let us hope that the future main plots of the Dragon age game will improve a bit.

Haha, dumba$$.

^ I've seen several comments like that from people in this thread and on other game news outlets. Apparently many people didn't know that he had left DA even before Trespasser and would thus have had no say about DA4 anyway.

But to know that would require paying attention ;-) Which is seriously overrated on the interwebs.

Thank you David, for writing some of my favorite games and characters ever. I'm sad to see you go, only hope that you will remain in the industry so that we can continue to enjoy your work. Wishing you all the best!

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

I'm bemused that I am the first to deploy an affectionate "Later, Gaider!"

Those of us of a certain age went to "after a while crocodile!"

Farewell and adieu.

You finally get to leave the toxic cesspool behind and who knows, maybe the quality of the writing will improve.

J/K.

Listening to bard songs now in trespasser which coincidentally I started today for the first time. Good luck Mr gaider. Thank you for your stories and characters. You must know you are one of the reasons I am a gamer at my 34s. I am serious. I bow Mr gaider

Terrible rebuttal.  There would be no Star Wars without George Lucas, after all.

That's right, there wouldn't. Would you rather there had been no amazing first three films just because the middle three didn't live up to expectations? Because in the end, I will always respect GL for creating one of the greatest movie franchises ever rather than 'delighted he's gone' because he dropped the ball in later years. Regardless of one's feeling about DA2/DAI, I love that the rich and wonderful DA Universe exists, and I credit DG with much/most of that. Which was my point. It seems churlish to me if you're a DA fan, to delight in the departure of the guy without whom it wouldn't be around.

You do realise, right, that there would be no DA at all without him, since he was the guy who built the world?

You highly underestimate all the people behind Dragon age if you think that it was a success just because of Gaider ,he was one of the writers who built the world not the only one.

I hope for the future for better main plots for the DA games because in all three games of whom he was the lead writer the main plots and the main villains weren't top notch and the only one who worked for me was wrote by Kirby .

Cole: Words break in small, secret spaces. He got away. He got away.

I hope he is moving on to something he enjoys just as much as I think he loved DA.

Wow very surprising news.

Well best of luck on your next endeavor DG. I've enjoyed your work with in the DA series, BG2, KOTR and probably other things I'm not even aware of and hopefully will continue to enjoy your work in what ever your next project is.

I'd take him over what's there any day.

It'll be worse without him. edit: Well, besides Sheryl Chee. Afaik she's still writing DA.

I thought Sheryl bounced over to write for the new IP around the same time Mary Kirby did (both were shortly after David went over there)?

Wasn't he lead writer for the new IP?

If not lead, then certainly a senior writer on it, I believe. Makes me curious.

I'm kind of glad he left DA last year. The sting of the news is dramatically lessened by the fact he was no longer working on DA. (And at least now I don't have to care about the new IP.)

Best of luck, David! You're one of the greats.

For all the negative comments we can make about where DA has gone, it wouldn't have been possible at all without Gaider. I'm certainly grateful for this incredible world he's created for us.

Also, this guy.

It wasn't a Fenris story. All he tweeted was that he was writing Fenris again, for a book, but it was not about him. As far as I know, that's the only nugget of information that has been revealed about it.
