Is anyone else getting like 1 minute load times on the normandy? Even when I die or dock on a planet I'm getting super long load times.
Steam version btw.
Long loading times?

Yes, I'm also having them, as are more than a few others I know.
Some are having them take ten seconds and even less.
I don't understand why ours are 1+ minutes. The shortest I've timed them at is ~40 seconds.
It seems like a Steam issue?

I have the PC retail, boxed from Gamestop, and my load times are incredibly bad as well. I don't have the sweetest rig in the universe, but I can play Crysis at 1920x1200 with most effects dialed up - I'd say it can handle ME2 and loading times.
Interestingly, I've noticed that the hard drives aren't pegged when the loading takes so long - clearly that's not the bottleneck. I'm wondering if it's a graphics card issue, or if there's an error state that it must recover from constantly when changing maps, thus causing a lot of memory shuffling.
In fact, I'm willing to bet that it has something to do with the character models themselves - anytime I go into a screen that displays characters outside the map world (squad status, assign squad points, etc.) there is a noticeable delay - for reference I'm using an ancient 8800GT with 195.62 drivers, and I just saw there are 196.21 drivers available so I'll try that.
Any mods want to weigh in on long load times?

Just thought I'd add my own observations here.
I'm getting the extremely long load times on my own PC. Takes about a 30 seconds to 1 minute to load a given "map", which is *way* too long. Here are my specs:
intel E6750 Core2Duo
4gb DDR2
ATI 5850 HD w/ 9.12 drivers
Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Now my roomie's PC loads about 20x faster than my PC, definitely how the game SHOULD be loading. Her specs:
Athlon X2 6400+
4gb DDR2
Nvidia 8800GT w/ latest drivers
Windows XP 32bit
I hope they get this sorted out in a patch, or somebody finds a workaround. The game is playable this way, but it's a HUGE annoyance.

I did two playthroughs with 1-2 minute waits at every loading screen (not to mention 5-10 second hangs every time I clicked something in the Weapon Loadout screen or opened Team Status) before I found a fix for this.
For the record, my specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
4 GB Corsair XMS2 Dominator Xtreme
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
- Run Mass Effect 2.
- Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Windows Task Manager.
- Go to the Processes tab.
- Right-click MassEffect2.exe and choose Set Affinity.
- Disable every core except Core 0.
- Click OK.
- Right-click the MassEffect2.exe process again and return to Set Affinity.
- Re-enable all cores.
- Click OK.
- Close Windows Task Manager.
