I shared this thought in a different post, but it seems worth sharing here:

What if Andromeda is a platform for a open-ended expansion?  In other words, we get a steady stream of meaty additional content that opens up new areas in Andromeda and adds new story beats.  Not just side missions but entirely new campaigns.

For me will be finishing Andromeda for the first time and then having to wait at least 2-3 years to play the next one.

When I first played ME1 to the end, ME2 was a completed game and Arrival had already been released, and ME3 was a month away from release. So my playthrough was more or less seamless in its completion.

The hardest part for me will be demanding there is no RNG in the MP but there will be.

Glad MP will keep me entertained so long. Would suck to play and then wait.

I waited five years and all I got was this stupid ending!

Oh, and the T-shirt.  I love the T-shirt though.

I actually possess a Marauder Shields T-Shirt  :)

So you don't want a Mass Effect game?

 Nothing he said suggests that.

I would not at all be opposed to this. The question then is how much will the additional content cost?

Define "steady stream". Don't think Bioware is known for that.

It could be worse, you could have George RR Martin writing the series and wait five years between installations. But it'd actually be worth the wait.

Do you mean something similar to how Marvel has built their cinematic universe? Launching the franchise with a charismatic lead character that has a trilogy arc, but also introduce a secondary cast of characters with their own stories to tell and eventually weaving the icons into enemble pieces? Works for other franchises and setting up a blank canvas of a whole new galaxy to play in could offer the potential for using that form of strategy in game franchises. BioWare could be best set up to exploit that form of IP building

Interesting.

Not sure if it would work in video game setting. Who would be the architect, Mac?

A few games down the line, another writer takes over and doesn't like his 'artistic vision'. What then?

could work, andromeda is massive so the ME games could stay in andromeda for several games and still have plenty to explore.

It's a conundrum.  On the one hand I want them to spend a long time making the game and giving it the time it deserves (DA2 anyone??), and on the other hand the waiting is torture.

At least I'll be doing minimum of 4 runs, then there'll be DA4 and I still have 3 Inquisitors to do, so that'll tide me over.

Well if it's as good a ME1 and ME2, I'll just keep replaying it for 2 or 3 years until the next one comes out.  That's what I did with all previous BW games (except ME3).  Took short breaks to play other games and then went back.  Hopefully this new one will continue this obsession for me.

if the Milky Way is anything to go by, we'll explore 1% of Andromeda before Bioware blows it all up.

The hardest part for me is watching a gaming company that I once loved slowly implode on itself. Part of me hope Andromeda will be a success, but an even bigger part of me hope it will be worst than ME3 so BW will be shut down by EA and some of the awesome talent that are left within those walls will leave and find somewhere else to start anew.

AAA Game development seems to be moving at a glacial pace this gen. I wouldn't be surprised if there's another four year gap between andromeda and the next ME.

AAA developers should take all the time they need in order to ensure that they release a polished product worthy of the "AAA" label. This CoD-inspired practice of pushing out cookie cutter games from an assembly line on an annual basis has poisoned the gaming industry for the last decade.

Take your time Bioware. On Andromeda, and every game that follows.

I think the hardest part is kind of slightly past the middle. Not quite the tip, but where you can firmly wrap your hand.

Thankfully I didn't have to wait for the sequels when I first started playing ME, because my first ME experience was the ME3 demo that came out before the game was released. I was hooked on the demo so I purchased ME3. After playing through this game I immediately purchased ME1 and ME2 (plus all DLC) and played the best video game story I've ever played.

The wait for MEA now is tough. I really want this game. I don't believe the wait for whatever comes after MEA will be worse. But I do hope it's got an amazing singleplayer story and an awesome multiplayer mode to keep me satisfied while I wait. :)

The hardest part if MEA turns to be as crappy and shallow as DAI

I don't think its something to go by. I'm more inclined to the possibility that we explore and transform more and more of it until it becomes fully claimed as 'ours' - MEA being the initial staking in territory. Then it gets boring and stagnant so we move beyond even that and into something bigger and weirder.

The blowing up and killing things focus is something I feel is more of a Milky Way thing. Just a feeling though.

I think we'd see a ME5, if greenlit in good time and the series continuing without gaps, by the end of 2020. At least two ME games this console gen. I don't expect a tighter planned trilogy at least, but I also don't expect just one game. (To be clear, these are light expectations. AKA just stronger predictions.)

I mean like WoW ,but not an mmo.

The base game is a platform where more content is tacked on later. Expansions, like with the Witcher 3 but not limited to just two expansions. You launch andromeda and you play all future mass effect content there. You don't have to pop in a ne disc or open a new app.
