I've ultimately decided to play as a male Mage but I'm having a hard time finding a good build. I'll will decide my specialization if I can find a good build for the knight enchanter or rift Mage.
Any good Mage builds?

You must be very picky then, since there are several good KE and RM builds. What exactly are you looking for? What makes all the builds in the forum not good?
KE link is at the bottom of the post. The rest is my Rift Mage/Winter build. This was extremely effective in both Descent and Trespasser DLC. It's good because it owns the battlefield, Ice Armor makes you almost as good as a tank for taking damage, and the variety of different attack spells makes if fun. Plus, combo damage! If you are not getting a Shatter at least once a minute, you are doing something wrong.
Before Skyhold, start with the Low Level Winter build:
http://forum.bioware...ter-mage-build/
After getting the Rift Mage specialization, respec to this as far as you have ability points, then go from there:
1. Barrier
2. Elegant Defense
(The next 10 points are the entire RM tree, except for Firestorm, which isn't worth an active slot)
3. Veilstrike
4. Punching Down
5. Stonefist
6. Shatterstone
7. Restorative Veil
8. Smothering Veil
9. Pull of the Abyss
10. Shaken Veil
11. Encircling Veil
12. Twisting Veil
13. Winter's Grasp
14. Winter's Ruin
15. Fade Step
16. Frost Step
17. Winter Stillness
18. Ice Mine
19. Chilling Array
20. Ice Armor
21. Mana Surge
22. Immolate
23. Flashpoint
24. Clean Burn
25. Consuming Fire
(From here you could add Energy Barrage, but you can't use any other Storm skills, because of the Weakness => Sleep bug, though if you want to exploit that bug with a build, see here: http://forum.bioware...ift-mage-build/. Better to add more Inferno.)
Actives:
1) Fade Step/Frost Step
2) Veilstrike/Punching Down
3) Stonefist/Shatterstone
4) Immolate/Consuming Fire <= or Mark of the Rift, or Aegis
5) Ice Mine/Chilling Array
6) Winter's Grasp/Winter's Ruin
7) Pull of the Abyss/Devouring Veil
8) Barrier/Elegent Defense
If you want to have Mark of the Rift as a focus ability, drop Immolate.
After you complete JoH DLC, you should replace either Immolate or Barrier with Aegis of the Rift.

Notes:
- This is optimized for Winter's Ruin mega damage and Shatter detonation with Stonefist
- I don't have anything against Frost Mastery, just ran out of points
- I put Immolate on the active skills in case I run into cold resistant enemies, but given Stonefist probably overkill, might swap for Aegis
- Besides, I wanted the Inferno passives
- It's fun to play, particularly in Descent with all those big mobs
