Provided ME:A actually comes out this year which seems unlikely unless they do a cheeky E3 announcement like Fallout 4, but for argument's sake what games coming out this year are you looking forward to the most?

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is probably the game I am most looking forward to but it seems doubtful that many of the major gaming publications would even acknowledge such a game for GOTY due to it's lack of mainstream appeal.

Xcom 2 is another game I am really looking forward to, loved Enemy Unkown and really like what I have seen of the sequel.

Really hoping Square don't **** up the new Hitman but with their new business model it would seem that ship has already sailed

Speaking of Square Enix there is also the new Deus Ex game as well, in all honesty Human Revolution was not a brilliant game but it's success just goes to show how starved everyone is for a game like Deus Ex, while I have no hope for the story hopefully the gameplay of Mankind Divided will follow on from the same philosophies that made the first so great.

Total Warhammer is also coming this year, have been waiting for a fantasy themed Total War for a while now so I really hope this turns out good, however the Total War series has been a bit of a hit and miss lately with more misses than hits so we shall have to wait and see how it turns out.

What games are you looking forward to in 2016 and do you think they have what it takes to rival ME:A for GOTY?

I would say Tides of Numenera, but it's too obscure.

Well given the current state of gaming that's not much of a stretch.

Human Revolution was superior to any Mass Effect game when it comes to gameplay and level design. If Mankind Divided came out at the same time, it'd certainly be a strong competitor.

Uncharted 4, XCOM 2 and Dishonored 2 for me. Keeping an eye out for Horizon Zero Dawn as well (obviously). But if we're talking about which game will get the most awards at the end of the year, probably Uncharted 4.

In terms of level design, yes, but I can't say the same about gameplay. It was honestly one of those things that actually made me less interested in the game as I progressed.

There are many strong candidates for 2016.

Personally, I already paid for Divinity: Original Sin 2 via kickstarter, will almost certainly buy XCOM 2 on launch or a few days later,

ditto for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (even if there are some concerning rumors about the game and the cutting of content).

I'm also interested other titles that were mentioned here, and assuming it is indeed coming out in 2016 - Star Citizen.

One thing is for sure, ME:A will not be able to simply win GOTY by default like DA:I.

Yeah, I was going to mention Horizon Zero Dawn as well. As much as I enjoy Mass Effect and Deus Ex I think Horizon might take the cake in terms of pure curiosity about the what the final product will be like.

I might be curious about this game, but it's too fricking strange for me, simply makes no sense and I suspect that the eventual explanation will not make things any more logical.

Yeah you've got a lot of potential ones there and while it's already out for the X box I'd probably add Rise of the Tomb Raider to that list as a possible candidate too. Mostly because the PC and PS4 don't have their versions yet PC gets theirs next week and PS4 near the end of the year around the same time as MEA

I'm willing to bet that this will at least be better than No Man's Sky. That sounds like a shell of a game..... with a lot of hype.

There are a lot of games and I can't really say until we see them. MEA will probably end up nominated but Dishonoured 2, Uncharted 4, the new Deus Ex are probably going to have a higher probability. Especially Dishonoured 2 and Uncharted 4

Well, I don't think it's so much hype as much as everyone being completely confused about this game...

It might end up a hit, who knows, hard to say until it actually comes out.

It just doesn't sound like there's much to it.

If anything, it seems more like one of those games that will take on a life of it's own because of the players.. not necessarily the game alone. Except I don't care about other players, personally.

Good list.  Division is the game i am most hyped about, but at the same time expect an epic letdown since its ubisoft.  I'm kind of expecting watchdogs again.  Not that it was bad, just not as good as I expected.

It will, eventually.

Nintendo just likes to usually polish their first party games to an insane standard in comparison to other devs.

Persona 5

The Division

Uncharted 4

Dishonored 2

Dark Souls 3

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant King

No Mans Sky

I'm sure there are more.

A nice list for good games coming out, based on my opinions:

Realistically, Persona 5 is out, I haven't seen JRPG sweeps any lately. They're kinda fall behind in term of appealing to a large audience. Not saying that it's bad or good, but I guess the taste changes. Anime games have become a niche lately. It will still do well, i'm sure anyway.

Uncharted is on the PS4, and it will win awards, there is a fanbase there, out of all the options, it has the highest chance, but it is a PS4 exclusive and multi platform games are the ones that get the most awards.

Dark Souls series lacks the broad appeal, and it's not really intended to be accessible for everyone. It's gonna be a hard game with high difficulty, so a lot of hardcore gamers would be into it. The story is pretty bad though, it's never the focus. It only has the gameplay to fallback on. I don't see it as a serious contender.

Possibly Dishonored 2, I can see it being nominated a lot, but it wouldn't win the majority. Maybe they will surprise me. I enjoy the first game, so I could see some potential there.

Ni No Kuni, anime games have never done well in term of GOTY, could be the style or the budget or just the style of gameplay they have, not sure.

Deus Ex is another serious contender, and the only one I could possibly see as a threat.

Personally, if ME series were to win awards and receive good reception, this year would definitely be the best year. Considering Witcher was released more than a year, Cyberpunk will be away for a while, Fallout 4 is already old news by the time the game is released. There wouldn't be anything to compare it to. Even the annoying fanboys of certain games I won't mention wouldn't do stupid craps like comparing their game to a game of a different genre, setting, and newly released.

I'm pretty sure it's intentional, EA really knows when to release their games. Both DAI and MEA have the best time to have their game dropped. Beth should have really waited for 2016 for Fallout 4, but I guess they wanted the holiday sales.
