What is likely to win media awards besides MEA:
Uncharted 4, Zelda, Dark Souls 3, Horizon, maybe Persona 5. Dark horse: Final Fantasy XV if it can turn the series ship around.
What I'm most excited for besides MEA:

2. Horizon: Zero Dawn

4. Rise of the Tomb Raider

No really looked into the RPG releases this year tbh but when it comes to TPS The Division an especially Ghost Recon: Wildlands will tbh blow ME:A away
Biggest problem the now is basically just not knowing anything, will ME:A just be another same BioWare game but with updated gfxs? if so well it wont beat much imo unless everything else released is pathetic.
Right now BioWare offer an try nothing new, hopefully there new ip marks an actual different game from the norm an not just the typical BioWare stuff in a different setting, but this really aint just a problem for BioWare, there really is not much "new" coming from anywhere its all just rehash an remake

I know I can't wait for Legend of Zelda for the WII U. it won't give Mass Effect a run for its money but I still want it.

You are assuming ME:A will be GOTY material.
Oh whether or not it is GOTY material is irrelevant, Inquisition wasn't GOTY material yet it still somehow managed to take GOTY, I know it was a slow year for video games but even with the limited amount of good games there were still far more deserving games for GOTY.
The Mass Effect series has generally been better than the Dragon Age series so hopefully ME:A does not fall into the same pitfalls as Inquisition.

Yeah, I was going to mention Horizon Zero Dawn as well. As much as I enjoy Mass Effect and Deus Ex I think Horizon might take the cake in terms of pure curiosity about the what the final product will be like.
Really not sure what to think about Horizon: Zero Dawn, could be interesting but it could also be your bog standard action adventure with pretty graphics, will have to wait and see.

I'm willing to bet that this will at least be better than No Man's Sky. That sounds like a shell of a game..... with a lot of hype.
I think you might be right, giant galaxy but incredibly shallow experience, from what I can tell all you do is fly to different planets and discover and document different animal and fauna variations, I am curious enough to give it a shot though, just gonna go in with fairly low expectations.

I'm pretty sure it's intentional, EA really knows when to release their games. Both DAI and MEA have the best time to have their game dropped. Beth should have really waited for 2016 for Fallout 4, but I guess they wanted the holiday sales.
In terms of sales Fallout 4 was always going to do well based on hype alone, to be honest even if they were going for GOTY I wouldn't be surprised if they thought they could take it based on the hype like previous Beth games before it.

>Wonders why he he doesnt understand why people praise the game.
Only on the BSN.
I have played it and I still don't understand why people go crazy for the Uncharted series, to me it is a pretty standard linear 3rd person action game that focuses more on cinematic presentation and scripted set pieces than doing anything interesting with the gameplay.

Yep. Game looks great, voice acting is excellent, the set pieces and platforming are a lot of fun but I found it got repetitive quick. Enter new area, fight off a few waves of bad guys, repeat.
Still fun but I just don't get the level of hype but then unlike quite a few people on here I'm hyped for ME:A. Different strokes for different folks.

Tbh the only one that's been exceptional thus far in that IP is 2 imo, I found both 1 and 3 to be fairly bland.

Off the top of my head:
Deus Ex
Division
Dark Souls 3 (if it's out 2016, can't remember)
Still, we know almost nothing of these games so let's just wait and see.

I like the game, but I don't really care for the story and the protagonist wasn't my favorite. I guess dudebro kinda protagonist is just not my type. Since Drake's story is over, we may get a different type of protagonist. As I said, it was one of the better PSN title, but I wouldn't put it as some of my absolute favorite. The objectives could be different a bit more, and the camera angle can be pretty annoying. I find a lot of characters are borderline stereotypical and the story to be a bit generic. It's a good series, but I think it could be better, IMO.

I am personally waiting for The Division, Hearts of Iron IV and Mount and Blade: Bannerlord. It seems only The Division is a contender for a GotY award out of these three games, because Hearts of Iron as a strategy game never has the audience to compete and Bannerlord seems to have a 50 year development cycle. I don't even know if it's gonna release this year so it's more of an educated guess. Although it does have alot of potential to become a GotY tier game, the developers are not well-known enough to get nominated for the title. I think ME:A has a very good chance to win.

The Success of The Last of Us went to Naughty Dog's head. They've become perfectionists. They know that GOTY's have to bring something new and innovative to the table, so they got rid of (their opinion) waste at headquarters. Amy Hennig was the lead writer of Uncharted and she's off somewhere else now. They have since delayed Uncharted 4 twice (The Last of Us was delayed twice,) because they are nitpicking and want that GOTY so bad.
Uncharted 4 wants to kill everything and anything in it's way.
I'd also like to think that Quantum Break, Overwatch, No Man's Sky, and Horizon: Zero Dawn have chances.
It's a tough year for MEA to win. I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed into 2017.
Although I would cry buckets if that happened.

Another one who is waiting for Mount&Blade II: Bannerlord! I'm not the only one in the world. ![]()
Loved Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV too, so I have high hopes for Hearts of Iron IV as well.

Human Revolution was superior to any Mass Effect game when it comes to gameplay and level design. If Mankind Divided came out at the same time, it'd certainly be a strong competitor.
I don't know. I think more work HAD to be put into level design for Human Revolution because of the game's heavy emphasis on stealth. Also, Since you spent most of your time stealthing around, you'd end up paying more attention to the level design as well, and the gunplay in that game was absolute trash.
They also went for an extremely complicated dialogue system, but fell short of getting it to where it needed to be, so it very often felt like a failed attempt at something really grand (there's nothing wrong with that of course). I think part of this failure was due to the lack of believability of the characters. They tried too hard to adhere to the alpha, beta, omega personality type pre-sets that the game layed out, so the conversation often felt really scripted (which of course they are but they shouldn't feel that way).
I think MD will be an amazing game and that it will improve on it's predecessor in many ways but as far as HR is concerned, despite being a great game, it was head and shoulders below any ME game.

The only one I see with potential is the next Deus Ex installment but as others have indicated it needs to improve gunplay (something they've supposedly gone to great lengths to enhance) and RPG elements. I personally ended up hating the previous Deus Ex because I suck at stealth games (I get incredibly frustrated) and found the RPG interactions poorly written - at no point did I care about the world or its people in it and lacked any sort of agency to continue. While the level designs were impressive they were essentially rat mazes (another thing that frustrates me.) If they improve the story content and provide an avenue for people who just want to go in "guns blazing" I think it could compete. Otherwise I expect MEA to clean up.

Game of the Year awards are just popularity contests. The games I'm looking forward to are: Crackdown 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, and some what DOOM, also there's a maybe for CoD if it's not futuristic robot people stuff. If this years CoD takes place in somewhere between WWII and Modern Warfare era I'd think it has a chance in what looks like a lack luster year.
