Blood and Wine is an expansion DLC.  Does such even qualify for the competition?

no

I'm not really that interested in many of the games coming out this year. Maybe I'm just really jaded and forgot how to have fun. *shrugs* However, if the Final Fantasy 7 remake or the Resident Evil 2 remake were to be released around the same time as Andromeda... that'd be some stiff competition. Gamers have been pounding at the gates for those for a decade.

What is likely to win media awards besides MEA:

Uncharted 4, Zelda, Dark Souls 3, Horizon, maybe Persona 5. Dark horse: Final Fantasy XV if it can turn the series ship around.

What I'm most excited for besides MEA:
1. Persona 5
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn
3. Final Fantasy XV
4. Rise of the Tomb Raider
5. Star Ocean V
6. Gravity Rush 2
7. NieR Automata

Having played RotTR, I can almost guarantee you that it won't be GOTY.  It's a great game, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it will stand head and shoulders above the other games this year.

I know I can't wait for Legend of Zelda for the WII U. it won't give Mass Effect a run for its money but I still want it.

I'm willing to bet it releases on the "NX".

Isn't Final Fantasy 7 being released as episodic? That already screams red flag to me. Kingdom Hearts is the only game I have high hope for from Square Enix, the cow is almost dried at this point.

Resident Evil 2 has potential unless they go RE6 again. RE5 is my favorite RE game even over RE4, but RE6 is pure crap.

But, RE6 did do really well in sales. Revelations 2 was episodic and also did well. I'm not a huge fan of 4 myself. (People praise the controls, but they are one hundred percent the exact same tank controls from 1,2,3,CV. Press up to go forward, left and right to turn left and right, back to move backwards, another button to run... it's just the perspective that's changed.) I didn't like the switch from horror to action and I'm not a  fan of tentacles. Revelations 2 has come closest to that old school feel of RE that I miss.

RE is my second favorite horror series, behind Silent Hill (I'm looking at you Konami, don't think I forgive you). Resident Evil 6 did well, but it could also rely on the hype from RE4 and RE5, it has crappy reception all around, and even the developers acknowledge it. Revelations 2 is a bit different from FF games which is more level-based, I don't know how they're gonna do it, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to keep playing and hit a gate and having to wait for another half a year for the next installment. RE5 control was pretty good, IMO, finishing meelee moves can be done at different position from the enemies, you can do combo attacks with your partner, and the AI is actually a bit smarter than I expect sometimes. I like how they offer different perspective depending on who you play as. I love old school horror game like RE, and I really want for them to bring back RE Outbreak, but I guess it's hard to profit from these types of games since gaming taste has changed and it's more about action than about atmospheric horror.

I'm 100% certain that it'd be in third person, but whether it would be an action game is remain to be seen, even the fan made game that got shut down before Capcom takes over also have the game in third person. It seems like the prefer style nowadays.

I still want to see how much they make Tifa's boobs jiggle in this game... for science.

If by third person you mean over the shoulder then I am skeptical. The only reason they are doing this in the first place is because the REmake Remaster sold so well.

I think the tank view is not very popular with people, and even sales wise, games with over the shoulder tends to do better than game with tank view. Revelations with that perspective sold very well, and RE4 where they introduce that perspective was what revived the series. I wouldn't mind to see the tank view making a come back, but Capcom only does what the most profitable to them. I wish they would bring back older series like Darkstalker but to no avail.

With all the craps they churn out with FF, I only care about Kingdom Hearts anymore.

I have my eyes on XCOM 2, Deux Ex Mankind Divided, and Warhammer Total War, among others.

While these last two have had... conflicting information regarding their potential quality, XCOM 2 seems like it will be very good if all the pre-release info is any indication. I've been watching a Youtuber Let's Play it (name's ChristopherOdd) amd saw very little I didn't like. It seems they improved on almost literally everything from Enemy Unknown, which was already a great game. I'm fairly hyped for its release next week.

Darkest Dungeon already officially released this year, and I've been having a lot of fun playing that too. Incidentely, if Bioware wants to pilfer the guy who narrates that game for Dragon Age 4, they are more than welcome to do so. The man is very talented.

Of course, all that assumes Andromeda releases in 2016. If ME3 and DA:I are any indication, it could be further delayed.

Did you play all 3?

Uncharted 2 won over 200 GOTY awards. The gameplay gets more diverse as the series goes on. The first Uncharted is very linear, boring, and my least favorite. But Uncharted 2 and 3 are tons of fun.

I realize it's a 3rd person cover shooter that has a great story and awesome set pieces..... but I find it to be one of my favorite franchises after Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

Yeah I have, I am not saying that they are bad games as Naughty Dog are undoubtedly very good at presentation and the gameplay is at least solid even if it is a little shallow, however as a game I just don't find it all that interesting, enjoyable for what it is sure but not the type of game I will be rushing to the store to get at launch if at all.

One might argue that translating Hollywood action sequences into playable form is, in fact, doing something interesting with the gameplay. Especially since no game had really done it well before Uncharted 2 and few games have done it well since.

Oh there have been plenty of games that have tried that from God of War quicktime events to even as far back as Kotor lightsaber duels (how sucessful they were in this endeavor I will leave to you), it is a pretty common theme among AAA games these days however Naughty Dog are arguably one of the best at it.

That said presentation is not everything and without fun and interesting gameplay great presentation will not save your game from being a dud, just look at the Order: 1886.

Although out of those games I am honestly only thinking No Mans Sky will be a major contender in the end, but even then it might be too niche.

I don't know it definitely has enough hype to be considered for GOTY awards, however it does look like it could be another Spore.
