Like Joker & EDI, I feel if the crew had relationships to one another that it'd add more depth to the characters. I would really enjoy starting rumors, breaking up relationships, and experiencing all the drama.

Garrus and Tali as well.

I would like it if other characters did things with one another, including dating. It would help give them a little more life than just being static to the player (never doing something without your involvement).

Didn't that happen when you didn't bang Tali or Garrus?

I think they expanded on that a little bit in ME3, you sometimes see them having conversations which was a little better. That whole rumors thing could be fun but really hard to implement. God think about all the variables in the code, I pity the guy who has to work that crap out.

I don't see the harm or negatives in it, it's not just Garrus and Tali though. Kenneth and Gabby down in the engineering section of the Normandy can get together as well.

Listening to other people being lovely dovey is the last thing I want to hear while playing video games.

It certainly adds to immersion, and is more logical than the alternative.

That said, it would be nice to see more crew members interact independently in general, not just in the romantic sense.

Like a few members playing a card game or something.

Then perhaps you shouldn't play Bioware games. They have this alot in Dragon Age Inquistion too with Dorian/Iron Bull. Sera/Scout Harding, Krem/That Bard and Cole/the healer  ...  Its highly possible they will have this in ME:A too

I like it that the NPC have a life abside from the Mainplot and the Mainchar

No, it doesn't. Having the crew blatantly ignore the rules of the military they work for without consequence is not logical and breaks immersion.

I agree with this part though. That's one thing I liked about Mass Effect 3, when after every mission there was at least a couple conversations or things like playing cards happening.

I hated that, but that doesn't mean a feature would prevent me from playing a game. That's just stupid.

I liked the Garrus/Tali hook up personally. Felt like it made sense considering the situation.

I'd have no issue if revisited idea of npc's possibly having relationships if not pursued by the PC.

I'm more concerned with interfering with said relationships.

Yes it is, the crew is not made of plastic, and Tali & Garrus didn't even belong under the same chain of command.

Everyone standing at attention even after the PC made a choice, because they are the protagonist's potential toys / targets makes more sense?...

And by all means, if there's a bending of rules, the game should allow you to voice your opinion on this, or otherwise provide consequences.

More fun to be had this way...

There should also be consequences if you decided to intervene because "regulations" and then conveniently forgot about them yourself...

I like how you ignore the part where I agree they should socialize and instead make it sound like I think they should just stand silently at attention.

And if you're allowed to give them repercussions for breaking regulations, then I'm more okay with that than them getting away scot-free.

PDA = Public Displays of Affection. At least that is what I think they are referring to. I always think of Personal Digital Assistant when I hear PDA myself.

I do as well. But that didn't really make sense :D Unless you mean it's disgustingly shitty old technology.

I think that too sometimes, although usually when I hear PDA I almost always think of public displays of affection first.

No the whole romance/shipping garbage should stay insignificant and minor. This isnt a dating sim for christs sake why are you people so keen on making it so?

Do you really care about immersion in this case, or does this merely coincide with the type of romance that you personally like - i.e. without sex,

and with your personal dislike of the Tali - Garrus romance?

Because I imagine that this will allow you to break crew member romance for "pure reasons" like regulations (as opposed to not wanting them to somehow spoil the romance for you), and perhaps avoid the inevitable repercussions from said crew members yourself due to choosing to avoid sex?

Anyway back on topic, if romance is a thing (and I wish it wasn't) it should be open season for everyone, not just the commanding officer.

If anything, it makes much less sense ethically for a superior officer / captain of a ship to engage someone under his command in romantic relations,

than it is for two crew members serving together.
