My least favourite part is definitely the Exalted Plains. On my last playthrough, the only things I go there to do are Solas and Vivienne's personal quests (the latter of which involves faffing around with the war table), and the two approval things for Dorian and Cass.

I just really hate that place. It's so dreary, miserable and full of demons. Perhaps if it had some real atmosphere to the whole 'post battle' theme, I'd be more interested. I also avoid the Shards, so I don't go near the Oasis anymore, and its nightmare map.

Fortunately, there are loads of areas I'm happy to visit. Those two just aren't included.

My least favorite part?

The unskippable Tutorial in the beginning.

I hate replaying because I have to see Solas again after having him break my heart in the first playthrough. I'm pathetic, I know.

All the annoying mmo grinding.

The worst offenders being Emerald Graves, Exalted Plains and Western Approach. Which is sad, because I loved how WA looked and adored it's music, but the banter bug they never fixed is a real joykiller out there.

Hinterlands. Hinterlands. Hinterlands. I know I can escape, but every time you start a new game you have to go back there. Don't make me do it! I don't wanna!

I just started a new character yesterday. I keep quitting and coming back because the Hinterlands are just so tedious this time... It's like I can see the next thing I need to do, but I have to get through the endless Templars and apostates to get there... And I have to pause every few steps to pick up elfroot.

I gotta agree that the Xanax Plains is the worst zone of all. The buzzing/groaning environmental audio, the glaring light, the wandering demons, the burning smell, the insane aggro halla, the chiggers and mosquitoes. Hate that place!

.... unless I need to farm Arcane Horror Hearts for Master Cleansing Runes. Then The Exalted Plain ramparts are the bestest places in the whole world. Don't set fire to the pits and you get never-ending Arcane Horrors!

Ugh! There's actually a good reason to not redead the undead only once per game! :pinched:

Emprise Du Lion and the body pits in the Exalted Plains.

Love Emprise du Lion but hoooomg the body pits puke puke stab me in the eyeball NOOOOOO not again

The Forbidden Oasis. Eurgh. I just can't. I hate that place

If you never pick up a single shard it never even populates on the map :D Raise your hand if you were sad and missed ye olde Oasis... what, no hands in the air? Huh.

For me? Everything after "In Your Heart Shall Burn." The tension and dread and excitement are really well paced up until that point (excluding the 20 hours you waste in the bloody Hinderlands). Recruiting Cole or Dorian first, doesn't matter, both those quests are great. Just knowing what's coming up... the confrontation with Corypheus, the trek through the snow, The Song, chat with Solas, hunt for Skyhold, arrive at Skyhold... ahhh so exciting. But then.... everything grinds to a halt. it's fun meeting Hawke, and I'll usually run through that whole entire questline pretty quickly. But then... ugh.... no.... NOT AGAIN.... the damn court. Halamshiral. NOOOOO ugh not this again. Sigh. Pull up the stupid guide. Carefully and cautiously find each coin/halla/quest item, talk to the person, go through the door, whoops, wrong order, reload, now who do I want on the throne? oh wait a second, doesn't matter in the end, and why the hell does my random little Dalish elf give a flying floof who is on the Orlesian throne???

So, yeah, I'm currently stuck there. I went through the trouble of modding my game so I could get my grabby hands on Cullen, and even the thought of a dance on the balcony with the dear former knight-captain is not enough to make me turn that game back on even after a two month break.

Exalted Plains is a drag. I don't like the layout, the quests, or the combat sections for the entire zone. It has a cool dragon fight, and puzzle section though, but that is not enough to save it.

I thought of something else I hate to replay: Crestwood! The Three Trout Farm area. Every time enemies spawn there, someone in my party (I'm looking at you Dorian) always manages to annoy ALL the druffalo.

Exalted Plains. It was intentionally made ugly to look at, but it's also visually uninteresting. Dead trees and rocks and water, yay. The bone pits suck, there's virtually no story in the zone even by Inquisition's standards, and it has a few really tedious collection quests.

I'm pretty sure the War Table missions to gather herbs and minerals are sending other people to do just that. :) They are just not very good at it.

yeah that's what I tend to do as well if an advisor isn't occupied on another mission or operatoin then I get them doing that instead in one of the areas. I'll pick extra stuff up if I'm in that area on other missions but the rest of the time I get any spare advisors to do that.

I've just been reminded how annoying the Hyenas in The Western Approach are. It seems like every ten seconds there are more. It wouldn't be so bad if they gave a decent crafting material but they only bloody drop Canine Leather... Also I really don't like killing a big beast like a Gurn only for it not to drop any loot at all...

I stay on my mount until I'm at the camp to solve that problem. But it is fun when the enemies are the ones that annoy the druffalo and I can stand back and watch them fight each other.

Amen. Replace "Gurn" with "Bear" and add Grizzly End Trial enabled and you've got double   .

Ugh, yes! I once accidentally angered a druffalo while fighting the dragon there. That was fun.

As much as I like the storytelling aspects of the game, really, most of it is pretty tedious. So far I've only managed to get through one full playthrough. And I think the lore is incredibly interesting in this game and the end results are very good, but the way you're forced to get there is just not fun. And that makes me sad because I love Dragon Age. :(

THIS. A thousand times!! They're also annoying in the Forbidden Oasis, though less ubiquitous. It's a shame the Token of the Packmaster doesn't work on those. I spam on/off of that thing whenever I enter a zone with dogs just to ensure that it's working.

With my very first character, I did almost everything. A few of the side quests bugged out but for the most part, I did every side quest and collected everything. Replaying with new characters, there's no way I can sink the same amount of time into it. So I end up skipping some zones entirely. And the fact I can skip entire zones with nothing lost and nothing gained is what I hate the most.

The Hinterlands is a map that is broken up into different places intended to be returned to when you are at a higher level and that was something I failed to realize my first time playing. I ran right into the Dragon and got mauled by bears. Once you break it up and revisit after doing other things, it's not so bad. My OCD makes me complete everything and sometimes I am ready to just quit, but I found that by my 20th game I had a good pattern to keep me entetained, not bored and not tired of repeativie visits. I still dislike the Graves the most though. I tend to have the worst issues in that area, from gltiches to giants.

I hate Exalted Plains, every inch of it. It's so depressing, boring and tedious.... mostly depressing. BW could've done it better, much better. Like the Fallow Mire, which is also depressing but in a very good way, haunting and interesting. I wish FM would have been as large as Exalted Plains. But, the way Exalted Plains is now, I always try to breeze through it as quickly as I can. And the ramparts... I don't even bother to fight with the undead. I just go straight to the arcane horrors/pits and get them done before I need a prescription of antidepressants.

3. Exalted Plains. Ugly, barren, crazy puzzle quest that drove me bats**t until I figured out how to make people stay in place using the xbox. Hate the place, even the keep is ugly. Only the Dalish are remotely interesting. I only do those things I absolutely have to do.

2. The Hinterlands. I can't leave until I've fed, clothed and protected the refugees. Some things I let wait until later, but I have to get the healer and the horsemaster, etc.

1. Haven.  Since Haven's the only enemy-free hunting and scavenging area in the game, I gather elfroot, iron and kill rams and druffalo until I'm blue in the face so that I can build decent armor and weapons before going elsewhere. I make the elfroot, iron run at least twice, sometimes three times before doing In Your Heart Shall Burn. By then, I'm ready for Haven to burn.

The hinterlands are the worst. And the completetionist in me won't allow the to move on until I've done everything so I never have to come back for long

+1 on Hinterlands. I dunno why even, it's a very pretty zone, it's just ... boring. I've also given up making myself talk to every NPC. A few of my Quizzies are just surly and/or very direct and skip the pleasantries these days lol.
