An obese person wouldn't be in the physical condition to do any of the things the protagonist and squadmates will be doing throughout the game. I'd rather Bioware leaned more towards realism than representation when it comes to body types.

I enjoyed playing an obese Bounty Hunter in TOR, so I don't have a problem with the idea personally, 'girth' jokes aside.

I named him Makakapotamus, also.

Only if a second squadmate follows him around whilst playing a tuba.

Why not, but in order to do it justice he always has to lag behind the party and take regular stops for a breather while yelling "you go on ahead ill catch up with you" and panting heavily. Should also be easier for the enemy to hit being a larger target and all.

Is this gonna be like the Oscars? Will fatties decide to boycott the game if there isn't an overweight squadmate?

"But muh representation..."

No I would hope not just asking for fat person to be on the squad.

A really big squad mate going out on missions with you could be taking it too far, as people said they wouldn't be fit enough.  But having a few curvier characters on the ship, maybe doing tech and just wandering around as extras would be great.  Not big, but not supermodels either.

However I wouldn't want 'everyone is a size 2 except that one chick over there'.  That's silly.  You had that in DA:O with Lloyd, everyone was stick thin and then he comes along and is way bigger than all the rest.

Also guys who aren't super buff, the fact that Joker, Kaidan, Shep, Anderson and every other man except James has the same chest is so stupid.

Can't we have a regular bloke?

Who knew that gamers where such fat shamers? There's some irony in there somewhere with someone. Lol

But seriously, there's nothing all that athletic about MEs combat. I don't see why a bigger person would be any worse with moving around as a KRogan would be. Also, theres plenty if thin to average built people that get winded quickly themselves. It's not like any character ever gets winded from running everwhere in game anyways.

So why all the selective realism for a fantasy sci-fi game? There's plenty of bigger characters throughout sci-fi.

Exactly. Given Joker's condition, there's no way he'd be as buff as MaleShep, Kaidan, etc

Krogan are more like elephants than an obese human. Their species is designed to be large, unlike ours. Wrex and Grunt are probably fit and healthy, whereas a human with a similar build would not be.

The physical requirements of combat would be too much for an obese person. It is why all real world military organizations make physical fitness part of the job requirements and regular physical fitness training part of the daily grind.

I could see a member of the ships crew being a little overweight but I mean what do you classify as girth?

I think Males in Mass effect all about 6'2 so about 300-350 pounds for females there like maybe 5'10 so over 200 pounds.

Personally I just know I wish more natural bodies for males in general.

I mean common, entire game is on steroids. There is one thing seeing soldier like Shepard being on steroids and then some random scientist/adept(mage in DA) on steroids as well. Buffed is ok but make it more natural...not on steroids! Also plz give me some diversity on bodies, I wanna see normal/ buffed/ thin/ overweight bodies and some damn chest hair as well I'm tired of "magical shaving cream" thing in here. Give me something like this for crying out loud:

assassins-creed-syndicate-shirtless-jaco

Should have been a messy pile skin and bone when the Normandy crashed. Don't get me started on that guy.

Those weight estimates seem far off.

Male Shep looked to be well under 300 lbs and would probably be under 200 lbs, depending on his height. 6'2 and 300 lbs would give a BMI of 38.5 and would be well within the 'obese' range for body mass index. If Male Shep is 6'2, a weight of 180 lbs would put him in a healthy BMI range. That would also, IMO, match his physical appearance in the game.

Fem Shep probably would not have weighed over 140-150 lbs, but it depends on her height. She was rather thin. 5'10 and 200 lbs would make her somewhat overweight, which doesn't really match her physical appearance in the game.
