At first I thought it was a bit silly because it is a highly militarized operation, after all...
But then I thought that one of the really interesting things about ME1 was the inclusion of Liara as a non-combatant. She was a young archaeologist and expert on Protheans with extensive biotic powers. She didn't train to be in combat, and her inclusion in the story was interesting for that.
There's nothing to say that a character in that position couldn't be overweight. A non-combatant forced into combat roles by circumstance. It should be handled with maturity and not turned into comic relief, though.

She's really not that interesting. She's obvious nerdbait, that does the mousy thing while saying how important Shep is.. and then leaping to suddenly thinking you have a "connection". There isn't much to her at all.
The most interesting thing about her she's weird enough to still act like even if you killed her mom. That's more depth than Ashley, when you think about it.
That said, some people still find it hard to include her as a combatant. I would have been happy enough if she was a remote Shadow Broker type.. like an Oracle (dc comics) character.

I didn't say she was interesting in the game, per se, though many adored her.
I just said that it was interesting that they added a non-combatant into the mix. Gave the crew a feel that they were unlocking a puzzle using as many assets as they could pull together. It spoke to the developers' RPG roots, really.

Fair enough. I think she's still a somewhat believable combatant though, just for being an Adept (or "Pure Biotic" as they called her later).
I kind of thought she was like Bastila (what with the mental connection), mixed with the desire on some people's part to hook up with the teen Twi'lek from Kotor.
Liara isn't a non combatant, hence her being available as a squadmate in various combat roles. Non combatants are people like Dr Chakwas, Engineer Adams, Ken Donnelly, Gabriella Daniels, Kelly Chambers etc.
Hey they could be a biotic god and sweep all those before them like a great wind.
Sounds good, but I don't want to smell any greatness...

Alright, I'm kind of sold.

You say that but look at how active Liara was, try putting a fat Asari in the same position and it wouldn't work. I don't remember the majority of the cutscenes from ME1, but in ME2 and ME3 Liara is very athletic. She jumps out a window freefalls using biotics, and chases a Asari Spectre down, a Fat Asari Woman isn't doing the later, and is likely straining to keep her fat behind from falling to fast when jumping out windows. In ME3 She's crawling their air vents and gunning down enemy soldiers in the process when you meet her again. She went on several physically exhausting missions with a Drell double agent, and considering how fast that guy moved (lights flicker and dude is out of the torture chair and in the Shadow Broker's main room.) I don't think fat Liara could do that.
I thought Liara was chubbier in ME2 and ME3. Mostly because of her Shadow Broker uniform and the increased cup size.

That's why I said "Liara in ME1." In fact, one of the points of my post was about how ME1 differs from ME2 and ME3.
In ME2 and ME3 she was written by different people and her personality changed so much she might as well be a different character entirely. But I wasn't talking about those games.
We need Biggie as a squadmate

We need Biggie as a squadmate
This is Mass Effect, not The Walking Dead.
Volus or bust.
Fat people are a liability.
No.
Is it inter-sectional girth? Maybe Bioware can help you out.
The squad should be composed of gamer phenotypes.
- Overweight
- Weak
- Emaciated
- Soft handed
- Limp wristed
- Pale
- Pampered hedonists
