I would say give this series a chance. I really liked the series as a whole. Most of the characters are likable. The story is great and the choices are great. Mass Effect 2 was the best game in the franchise in my opinion. I believe that you would like this game if you are into sci-fi games. Reply back if you want to ask me to go more into depth with it. Also you can check this out because I am currently doing a Let's Play on the first game.

I agree with that statement as well. This series is better than most.

It is an excellent series, with a high replay value. The DLC make it pricy though..
I think EA needs to lower the price especially if you play on pc because there is no mass effect 2 ulitmate edition like there is on the ps3.

And I was fine with the endings myself; the free DLC Epilogue DLC is also good, but adjusts the requirements to insure that no m/p content is required for some conclusions.

OMG.......please don't let the little devils get you. No one can answer this kind of question for you,I mean like it or not it's completely up to you. ME series is like a big a** diamond shining on the field of gaming. The ending is "horrible" can only mean the ending is heartbreaking, not the other meaning of "horrible". Personally speaking,I thank God every day I've played the ME series, they're far beyond video gaming.

The ME Trilogy pack appears to be among one of the better collections available. It includes the DLC for the first game, and a bit for the second. As for quality, while I prefer the DA series myself due to Fantasy, this series is a fine example of Sci-Fi storytelling.

Nice choice. I like the Mass Effect series better than Dragon Age because Dragon Age 2 was so boring for me. I liked Origins and Inquisition a lot though.

Don't let the last ten minutes of a game spoil the hours upon hours of enjoyment you'll get out of the series. Do get the extended cut ending dlc though. With that, at least the 3 endings are actually different, not just the same cutscene in different colors..

He will feel disappointed initially though. Then he will look back and remember the journey to getting there was amazing. He will truly experience the feels at that moment.

I agree with what was said here. I wouldn't let several minutes towards the end ruin the whole thing. Plus, who knows, some people were bothered by it less than the others, some loved it. I might despise the ending of ME3 and some of the writing in general, but I've never regretted, not even for a moment, that I picked the games up. I've made three complete playthroughs so far. The trilogy will always have a special place in my heart, despite its shortcomings.

Yeah, I'm still pouring whiteout over my mind because of that too. - To be fair it's only two things that bothered me, but they're still reason enough to just get one of the fixes.
To the OP, I highly second the suggestion to get MEHEM or JAM before playing through 3. (I know JAM is super easy to install too, so don't worry. Can't say about MEHEM but it probably is too)

THe first game is quite good, though controls can be kinda wonky.
Second game improves on controls, and has some of the best companions you'll come across in Bioware games, though at the expense of a central narrative. Inventory is also largely gone.
ME3 has decent gameplay (though some pretty bad bugs that were never fixed) and a stronger central story. But dialogue options become extremely limited. To the point where one wonders if we have crossed over into pure shooter territory. And,yes, it has an ending which , imo renders the entire trilogy meaningless. Less, than fun, antifun. It leaves a void where any enjoyment should have been. If I had known playing ME1 where ME3 would have ended up, I never would have started down that path.
I agree with anyone who says play the game with MEHEM or JAM mods in place.

How good is MEHEM? i know it changes the ending, but I want to know is it really smooth and no bugs for the ending?

I can't say because I don't use it. Although, if the nexus page is any indication, it's pretty bug free and I think the author is still semi active so they might be able to help if you ran into trouble. I know a few people who use MEHEM as well and they never mentioned having problems with it.
Personally I suggest you use JAM instead. It fixes the two major problems with the ending, but otherwise doesn't edit anything so it looks completely professional and immersive with the rest of the game. So much so, in fact, that the original ending looks more modded due to the JAM version being clearer, more satisfying and making more sense. MEHEM adds more content, such as some custom cinematics, voice acting and new final scene, but they look out of place and it has a more "custom" Feel. I'm not bashing it though since JAM couldn't have existed without it, and plenty of people prefer MEHEM's so you might want to find videos of both and decide which one you like more for yourself.

I would play the game as is before modding.
(Or choose JAM version A)
and no mod is entirely bug-free: but these two are well tested.

MEHEM has been through several iterations, and each one gets more polished. At this point, it's pretty bug free.

I recommend ME1 it has 3 digestible areas which reminds me of DAO. And I've spent a lot of time playing ME2. Haven't been able to get into ME3 but who cares the first two were so fun.

Mass Effect games are no different than any other with various pros and cons. Do you like games similar to Mass Effect? (ie. streamlined action RPG's) If the ending is the only thing stopping you, I'd say that's silly and you should play these games right now.

OP, I would like to suggest that one of the key reasons to play this trilogy is because it makes the player care. Not many games achieve that. IMHO the ending hurts mostly because one does not want the adventure to end. Having said that, I would not ever want to play it again without MEHEM installed.
I am one of the odd ones who came to the party late and started with ME3. Not a bad way to do things, but so much was confusing that of course, I just had to go back and play the others once I was hooked. I've just finished my fifth run through the trilogy and it doesn't get old; there is nothing else quite like it. Perhaps you might love it as much as well.
