a game where storage crates aren't the main option for taking cover would be great.

I'd love it if cover looked more natural as well, even in indoor spaces. I'd rather characters were firing around a doorway than taking cover behind some ubiquitous metal storage crate, and that terrain features replaced crates outdoors.

That said...I fully expect there to be crates.

Seriously with the crates. In ME1 it was like no one in the galaxy outside of the Citadel ever unpacked anything.

Please, unpacking was so 21st century.

I agree on the crates tho.

Crates. -.-

Aside from the cover thing... crates always annoyed me. In every single ship they had unsecured crates just standing around in corners. This is not how you stow cargo... anywhere.

The ability to have the protagonist be other species in the campaign.

That can wait. I can see why people want to play as other species. But we are human.

Yes, at least not for Shepard. In fact most of the time he comes off and moves like a bumbling idiot.

Okay I know my next suggestion won't be on the top of everyone's priority list but I would like to see more weather effects in the game.

For example, torrential rain, thunderstorms, gales, blizzards, fog (etc) and how these weather conditions could affect battling enemies. One little aspect I liked in ME2 was how Haestrom's sun affected Shepard's barriers so it would be interesting to see how a new protagonist would deal with certain other weather conditions. This would be something different because the majority of the trilogy was set in a calm static environment (especially 2 and 3). The only two instances where I can vividly recall there was a different weather pattern was Noveria (with the snow) and Pragia (for the brief appearance of rain).

I know this isn't something major but it would be nice to see :).

(I'm expecting some wiseass to say go outside or play Mass Effect 3 with the "Rainy Mood" in the background )

What I want, more than anything, is for MEA to actually have a real antagonist. ME1 had Saren, and I loved him. ME2 had.... Harbinger? The Collector General? It had no single unifying enemy, just a faction, yet its story managed to overcome this shortcoming. ME3 had ... literally nothing. Harbinger was there, but not really in a primary antagonist role, and there was nothing else. There were just 'Reapers'.

I sincerely hope MEA has some radical super religious evil alien leader. Or something equivalent.

Specifically, I'm just thinking of the means by which concealment would be maintained in a covert op. In ME, the only situation that really says "covert" to me is Kasumi's mission, and the covert part didn't really last for very long.

What about the first part of the Arrival DLC when you are breaking in to a Batarian prison? Sure you can just shoot your way through but you can also sneak through to releasing DR. Kenson without firing a single shot. The story even wants you to do the latter way.

True, though that just leads to a question of

Yeah I'd like some variety in weather as well, like much darker nights, snowstorms, sandstorms, heavy rains etc. I'd also like interactive destructible environments like the recent tomb raider;

If anyone's here has played fallout or skyrim with environment mods, you'd know how awesome it is to have dynamic weather patterns that have an impact on the player. We already have a bit of that in the Mp with the hazard maps and a couple Hammerhead missions in ME2 but I'd like them on a larger scale and with much better application.

This would also necessitate the use of proper night/ thermal vision at times which I find lacking, this being a futuristic shooter.

I think most players would best identify with a human protagonist. (we are all humans after all) And the more you can identify yourself with the fictional character your'e playing, the more emotionally connected you become.

Also: Giving players the choice to play as other races would either: Impact story (which would result in much more work, adapting the story/dialogue/NPC reactions to your choice), or no impact on story (in that case, people may not feel like their choice had any significance)

So a human protagonist remains the easiest and safest choice in my opinion.

I wouldn't mind being able to tell people to "go away". That's translated to a much nicer form :P And I really want to be the boss of people, being the in charge of the ship wasn't enough when I couldn't really boss anyone around or tell them to leave or punish them for bad behavior. I want all that xD

Is it as big as Kirkwall Legacy throne? I'll not accept anything smaller.

Not enough badass moments.

I'd love if the ship's pilot got a scene where s/he did some epically awesome Right Stuff badassery. Joker sort of had a scene like that in ME1, when he successfully drops the Mako into a supposedly impossible landing zone, but since that scene was created in 2007 it wasn't that visually impressive. I'd love to see the devs make the most out of Frostbite and do something on par with Interstellar's docking scene.

Speaking of pilots...I hope the crew is multispecies and the pilot is Asari or Turian this time around.

Please, the crates have been a thing in video games since when I was still young and handsome. They just can't let go. They'll optimize for touchpad input devices and VR but the crates will stay forever in games.
