No they would not have to make different stories. All of the species are in the same boat, literally and figuratively, so the story works for all of them.
Someone doesn't understand how stories work...

Exactly.Skar, thanks for your comment.
I do view the game from a woman's perspective. That the female protagonist in ME is portrayed as the equivalent of the 'can do' male is what makes ME an interesting game for me. If the Femme protagonist wasn't a strong leader, I wouldn't play the game. I'm not a helpless bimbo who's only good for sexist male objectification (although it's fine with me that my husband loves it when I play this role for him from time to time.). Had I not gone into the medical field, I would have succeeded as a combat fighter pilot. I'm competitive, but still enjoy being a girly-girl during off-hours. ME lets me do both.
Edit: It's not worth development resources to have a bar scene where all the women characters have a girl's night out, but then I seriously doubt that a bunch of male game writers have any clue how to write a good conversation for us. Lol.
Modifiable body types and a non-white male voice actor for the male protagonist? Or good hair?
Interactive space combat.
Being unable to see Batarian culture firsthand.
Leviathan DLC made Batarians intriguing. But no we don't visit their planet
The ability to change the logos on the PC's armor. While this is in part because I hate the N7 armor with a passion, I always thought it was weird how they defaulted to it in ME2, when you were working for Cerberus.
I liked the N7 stuff but it would have been nice to have the option to switch to an alliance or spectre logo in ME 3
Something I think might be intriguing is an Asari who was raised within the culture of her non Asari parent, maybe human or Salarian. Concerns about cultural identity and the fact that they'd outlive almost everyone they know would ensue.
I think having different body types would be cool. Like you could make a Ryder with the body type of James Vega or with a curvaceous body.
Being able to choose "unnatural" hair colours would be swell too. I want to make a Ryder with blue hair...
Repercussions for Shepard draining every resource on certain planets. We've never had that, but we did have Admiral Hackett talk to us after punching that reporter.
Kakliosaur charge. We've never had that.
"I will tear you apart" being literal. We've never had that.
Finding out what Shepard and the entire Normandy SR2 squad were doing that was so important when the Collectors hit. We've never had this explained, I don't think.
An explanation for why the Collectors are in ME3 mp. I'm not sure we had that.
It's a good point, Corypheus' main goal is his personal power.
But I don't think that was his failing as a villain. I think that problem lay in most of his dialogue, and maybe his appearance.
He was campy, scenery chewing fun in the DLC. I don't think it translated well as a primary, main game antagonist. That wants a little more subtlety, and preferably a damn good VA.
