It's like Shepard's crewmates are all whoremongers when they say that they love you one line, then when you say 'no' not now let's not have sex, the person who 'loves' you so much breaks up with Shepard because she can't have sex.... Come on BioWare I know your writing is better than this.
BioWare can we please have the option to say no to sex but yes to relationships?

What's a relationship without sex? Might as well hook up with a castrated dog.........or a nun (who knows?).

The human body has physical needs whether they like to admit it or otherwise.

But they have proven they can have romances without sex
Two of the Dragon Inquisitions romances actually don't have sex scenes -Solas and Josephine- so they can do it.

Fusion sex is a very emotional and amazing experience, it brings people closer. Having a relationship not dependent on fusion is fine, but sometimes you feel closer with your partner when you do it.

I wouldn't know, I don't care about that crappy IP. I only care about Mass Effect.

I would love if romances in Mass Effect had it so sex was either an optional part of the romance or the romance left it ambiguous rather than it being a mandatory part of the romance with a "bang or break up" ultimatum. So far the only times Mass Effect had that was with the LIs in Mass Effect 1 and with Kelly Chambers in Mass Effect 2 and 3(her writer wrote her romance to have whether it involved sex be ambiguous, similar to Josephine and Solas in DAI).

I agree with this. Even in my last relationship masturbation proved to be more enjoyable. And whenever I did get it I found myself thinking about her best friend to tip me over the edge. No difference really.

Please don't ruin it for those who can't get it in real life and rely on video games to live out the fantasy.

At the same time, I don't like that much the ambiguous situations, like un DAI. Is something I'd like some more than headcanon. Is a guilty pleasure of mine having the protagonists of a romance consume an act of intimacy as I see sex. (a fun and pleasurable act, but still, for me, an intimate one.)

No i don't really want the sexual aspect of the relationship treated as optional and then not referred to outside of that scene, neither do i want it treated ambiguously which would suffer the same issue as well as coming off as some chaste romance.

What's wrong with some of the romances being chaste ones?

I can see the merit in people having this choice. I'd also like the ability to switch off romance entirely, and have the story written from the start to work without them.
It would be a bold step upward if players could slip a leash on all the sexual relationship craziness and get back to things revolving around the adventure ffs.

Both of these things are already true tho.

Because it negatively affects the choice for the wider player base for what appears to be a tiny minority who wish to avoid sex. If the norms of society were polar opposite to what they are i wouldn't expect such a mainstream game to be built with sex heavily present.
