BioWare can we please have the option to say no to sex but yes to relationships?

So, most BioWare romances? If not all of them? Struggling to think of some where you don't have sex until the very end.

In Dragon Age Origins, Morrigan will sleep with you early, but then she completely shut up you and won't have sex with you the further you are in a romance. Zevran is the same way, except he won't shut you out. Sebastian makes it clear that he can only have a chaste relationship with you. Relationship with Josephine has no mention of sex at all. Iron Bull will initiate sex pretty early, but it develops more later on into an actual relationship. It fits him because he likes kinky sex. People like Cassandra requires you to woo her because she's a romantic at heart, so sex at the end is a lot more appropriate. Sex happens at various points in the relationship for DA characters and a lot of them fit with their personality. It's more of a ME thing than anything.

Mass Effect's romances are notably pretty bad for being "1st flirt -> 2nd flirt -> We'll bang, okay? -> post-sex conversation -> Wait till next game

Yeah Mass Effects have to some extent been helped by the carry over factor of the trilogy.

Hopefully they will be a little less of that formula in Andromeda.

Right, but that's one game within a trilogy. The romance continues to subsequent games. I suppose under this possibly Steve and Traynor just by virtue of starting in ME3, though I've never seen theirs.

In the end you can't please everyone. Some will complain if there is sex, some if it's missing. Some just want the sex and not get emotional invested and some don't care for all of that and just want to shoot aliens in the head. Instead of complaining all the time (Like some who complained a lot about Cassandra being the hetero woman in DAI, or some of the LGBT community about that there are never enough for them) why not making a compromise? We all never get 100% what we want.

In ME1 my only option was Kaidan and I didn't liked him, so I was not really happy but guess what it wasn't that big of a deal. Most characters grew on me and my Shepard, as friends, as just crew mates and yeah some I never got used to, because they just didn't suited my taste but others loved them. And I'm sure, if you like a character you will get through that one dry humping scene. It won't kill you because just imagine that the main character is not you self-insert. Make a role play out of it. If bioware gives us enough variety so we can play many main leads with different personlity or at least morals (renegade/paragon) and different love interests, I bet it will turn out just fine. And if some romances will lack sex, well I'll be disappointed if there isn't a good explanation for it, but I guess I will get over that too.

Yeah this! I just hope we get more scenes and conversations with them (pre and post sex), so the buildup of the releationship is more realistic. I only liked the Garrus romance that much, because we had 3 games with him. I never liked the Jacob one, for me it was dull and short in Me2 and got worse in ME3.

Also, have known at least one RL couple that had issues with the male Player becoming involved with every possible female in the game. It was soon after their discussions that he also was discovered to be doing much the same in their relationship.

Blimey. He must have also killed hundreds of people too, what with the way you act in a computer game reflecting real life.

The problem is that it became cyclical, and every game just had a mini arc involving that general formula. The only time they really broke the mold in Mass Effect romances was with the final DLC, Citadel.

I feel kind of bad for femsheps. One of their LIs cheat on them and another dies.

but Garrus is still amazing because of those cheesy puns in ME2.

No cosplay required, or apparently in use; he simply was caught with one of her former friends.

Was he also caught shooting hundreds of people with a variety of weapons?
Or having massively long awkward pauses in conversations where he tried to work out what the short paraphrase in his head was going to turn out as?

Also, as it seemed to have passed over your head: a darth vader cosplayer:

That would be my Romance arc with Aveline in DA2; one of my fave bittersweet moments in any game, though I could only endure it a single time.

I'm not asexual or whatever. Sure I've got desires, but there's always porn. People need to seperate love from lust.

Sure, maybe wait for an indefinite amount of time for various reasons like marriage or getting to know each other better, but for a sexual person to stay completely chaste for the rest of the relationship is just not possible. If the option exists to skip it as in wait then fine. I'm not sure what's the point of keeping it drag on as Bioware stated they realize that and should offer option to skip it if they don't want to. The skip could be role play as asexual or just wait, but for sexual person who likes a defined relationship then they could choose the other option to have it. Options are always good.

Why should lust be separated from love? they go hand in hand for the vast majority.

It's just the moral code that a lot of people follow (Including me)

If people can have lust without love, they can have love without lust. Pretty simple. (but you are right that most people want to share a certain intimacy with the one they love in a romantic way)

Some people are asexual and wouldn't enjoy having sex, but it's usually very rare, even then, there could still be asexual gay, straight, or bi, so they can't really satisfy everyone. As long as there's a choice to avoid sex, then it should be ok for people headcanon a relationship for certain characters. If a purely asexual character exists for the game, it should only come as an extra option instead of the typical options sexual people get which is usually 1-2.

Indeed, no amount of "sweet personality" is going to make me want to get with a morbidly obese woman or an 80 year old.

Because an option may be appealing for the possible minority. And considering that Bioware appears to strive for inclusive behavior, they may support this notion.

I believe this metaphor you use in your post can be used as an example: Unless you are holding your own hands, the two hands in question would belong to separate people and therefore while they may fit each other, they are not one thing. In most romantic relationships, love and lust tend to become mutually present as one often develops as a result of the presence of the other but this does not make love and lust mutually inclusive as evident by how love can be present in some romantic relationships without the presence of lust ever developing.

Basically because they are separate things. Like two people holding hands, love and lust may be connected to each other but like the two people, they still remain separate entities.

Don't see how avoiding works. It just makes desire in the romance like a 'do not mention the war' taboo issue. That is not good.
It should be integral and integrated.
