BioWare can we please have the option to say no to sex but yes to relationships?

We all need to take a deep collective breath.

Refer to the poster hanging on the wall in my living room.

If they're not scaredycats they would've stayed ahead of Witcher romance and sexuallity. And they're are a bunch of scaredycats.

? I'm not sure what you mean by "ahead" but no Bioware game has been as explicit as any Witcher game.

Maybe not in actual shown sex scenes but it content they have handled then they most certainly have.

The DAI staff by there own admission p**sied out when it came to explicit content in case it made people uncomfortable.

How the Darkspawn procreated in origins was down chillingly

Or perhaps they wish to appeal to a varied audience; ones that do not have sexual escapades as a higher priority.

OK yeah. But BioWare games are not E or T rating, it's for mature audience who want to see adult content. I know that sex and nudity isn't for everyone but eventually people will demand that type of content in games that fits for M for mature games.

But as some including myself have indicated, the true horror depicted in the poem spoken by Hespith in DAO did not have the need to actually depict it. Still mature, but without the unnecessary sexual component depicted for the camera.

Pffft Witcher tore DA series to pieces! If CDPR do it BioWare can do it too.

And TW3 did the Horror thing better by actually showing the horror during the aforementioned Bloody Baron arc.

Sure, you can do subtle horror, and sometimes it really manages to be really effective (as in DA:O), but if you are good enough to make true horror and actually show it (ideally while leaving some room for subtlety and nuance), the effect is simply much stronger.

They also did a more subtle snd sinister horror rather spectacularly with the HoS expansion.

I have seen the Bloody Baron quest in TW3, and I disagree. This quest appears to be more hype than actual chills, but that is only my opinion.

Because of the choice to include more nudity, sexual matters, and profanity, I have not purchased or played any of the TW series. Much prefer Mature content to be presented in a mature manner; not Jr HS locker-room antics presented as drama.

Sex sells. Just look at TV shows (Game of Thrones anyone?). And that varied audience? I'd wager there are more people interested in adult content than the "varied audience"...

EA and Bio have all the metrics to know how to reach the maximum number of potential gamers and a M rating appears to be the honey that attracts the bees.

There are literally hundreds of M rated games that don't have sex and nudity, and many of them have been huge commercial and critical successes. Sex and nudity is not required to have a mature game for a mature audience do well financially.

I would say if the story is leaning that direction than doesn't pull in on the nudity like the story is writing towards than I would be pissed. Not because the game didn't have nudity but because the story was going that direction than it back out like a scared little girl. DAO probably is a game the lean more towards needed nudity in some of its depictions of things, especially in the City Elf Origins and City Elf area/ Howe place in Denirm. There is alot of hint of rape happening in DAO from what I understood to be honest.

But I am only for Nudity where the story benefits the most from it and in Bioware games that is mostly in the Romance part. The kind of romance the OP ask for I would say is more of a romantic romance and meaningful romance to that. This kind of romance I imagine would lead to marriage of the two characters eventually, thats the type of romance the OP wants if I understand right.

And nude mods appearing for games first is often the norm. But this is not a reason for the games themselves to reduce their standards; those 'fans' will do it anyway.

They don't show the horror with the Baron. The monster isn't the horror. It's all the abuse. And we never see any of it. That's all told to us. It's what makes the quest line so good.

Hey times are changing and I think eventually people are going to demand more adult content in games in the future.

God willing, AO games will be made viable if they're made available on steam and other places.

If only you could convince retailers like Walmart. The only reason developers don't make AO games is that nobody is willing to sell them.

No they wouldn't because again, they wanted to tell the kind of story they did. Telling the story they want to tell is not an act of cowardice.
All you are doing now is repeating the same stuff that isn't even an argument and insulting those who have a different viewpoint than you.

Whoa! Slow down miss! I never intended to insult anybody who has a different opinion, I was only joking by calling them scaredycats for not putting more adult content in romances, don't give me wrong BioWare is moving up the scale for sexuality in relationships so far. But there's always room for improvement and I believe they will do better with it in the future. Don't take my comments too seriously, I'm just playing around @ times is all.

That's the thing, with digital distribution, one doesn't need to worry about retailers. The key is getting digital outlets like steam,GOG,etc to start selling them.

Indeed.

For even more horror, they seduced men with their human forms then ate them afterwards. Imagine, some poor sap is giving a buxom fiery haired woman the smashing of a lifetime. She climaxes then...

A wise man once said "but the Priiize." but i'm not too sure it's worth it. I mean, what if you survive somehow, she gets pregnant, you're not willing to put a ring on it. Furious, she takes you to court for that support. Now you're paying almost two crowns worth of coin a year until the kid's eighteen.

Franky, it's all about the ROI (return On Investment), which means, going after the largest gaming market. I'd guess the AO gaming market is not viable.

Also, on a side note, 75% of a game budget is for the Campaign portion.
