BioWare can we please have the option to say no to sex but yes to relationships?

IIRC, I think Alistair from DAO actually turned me down the first time. I guess I pushed up on him a little too quick. Later he was definitely into the idea-it was even his idea.

I think I got disapproval for pushing up on Alistair before he was quite ready....iirc.   It's a been awhile since I played, but I'm pretty sure that happened. It surprised me actually.

don't pressure Alistair, he needs the emotional bond first.

The point was not about what Mass Effect, specifically, is marketed around.

The point is that:

1) Marketing is irrelevant to what we request from our games.

2) Marketing is often an inaccurate reflection of what the final product looks like.

In Bioware's case, regardless of perception of where the focus is, Bioware has implemented sex scenes in several of their games (for better or worse). It's not exactly crazy for someone to request that they continue implementing content in keeping with their tastes.

It's not "crazy", but my point is why is something so optional and minor in the grand scheme of their games so important? Do people pay $60 for something they can see on YouTube?

Why is the fact that they have it so important?

Because it's an essential part for most people, and I want it to be clear.

Because it's an important part of the relationship for me and a lot of people and we just don't want it to be kept ambiguous. It could already ambiguous if we could skip it with options if added in the next game.

And there are a lot of people whom have relationships where it never comes up, at least in the time frame of a few months like the Mass Effect games are. So why are those kinds of romances denied from existing just so all the romances can be the style you want them to be? And no, it can't be ambiguous if there is a dialogue about it, since then it either happens or it doesn't. There's no ambiguity in either choice.

Why is something optional "an essential part" of a game that doesn't center around sex?

Would love to meet these many people. Do they live under a rock also since I can't find any?

Apparently. Some here are saying that romances without sex aren't romantic, just friendships.

Not for the game but for the romance. I can still enjoy the game but the romance part wouldn't be as good.  Anymore 5 years old question?

After reading every response, I still don't understand why this matters.

Because no one gives two damns about game or gameplay anymore....it is all about "Can I bang someone/ or no?" in today's gaming.

So sex = relationships?

Sex =/= relationships,

but for a lot of people relationships = sex.

did I say that anywhere? I'm pro choice in the matter because there are plenty of relationships that are 100% functional even without sex (despite what a lot of people seem to believe). But cutting out the sex of the romances entirely, now that is has been established as part of their games would not make much sense. A lot of people play the BW games for the story and the relationships first and for the genre specific combat 2nd.

I like to see my LIs getting it on, nothing to be ashamed of, with that being said I'm also in favor of removing the dry humping because it's getting old, they don't have to show the naughty bits but I'm tired of standard issued underpants.

Who said they should cut it out entirely? Having some romances with it and some without is not getting rid of sex in Bioware games.

That's unfortunate for "a lot" of people, then.

It needs to depend on the character.

Some characters are going to expect that in a romantic entanglement, sex is going to be on the table at some point. If they find out that interest is not shared by a potential partner, it makes sense they might decide it's better to call it quits before they get too deep in a incompatible coupling.

It's not a bad thing if some characters are willing or interested in a romance where sex is avoided or delayed, but I don't support it becoming a standard.

YES! Since 90% of games out there doesn't include any romance options that is exactly what it is like. Also we can't discuss gameplay yet as we know nothing about it.

Because there are many different orientations they have to account for, those who got stuck with that option will have their options reduced.

You don't have to for me to ask.

So you're saying that taking out things previously in the other games wouldn't make sense?  Like fetch quests and hacking mini-games (not a lot of people miss those).

A lot of people play BW games for the relationships...but we just established that relationships does not equal sex.  So if they took out sex, then...
